Aquanoise 33 Posted June 17, 2015 I think the medical system is way to simple for a game that is about survival, when you get shot or stabbed in the chest you shouldn't just be able to 'fix' yourself by putting a bandage on it. There should be alot more steps to become healthy after an injury.Stab/bullet wound: when you're stabbed with a knife (or shot) you should have to clean the wound, stich the cut and change bandages regulary and maybe take anti biotics to avoid infections.Bone injury: when you break an arm or leg you should not be able to do anything to heal it without any form of painkiller (morphine, alcohol, etc). Once you have taken the morphine you have to set the bone in the right position (if the bone fractured in the wrong direction) then you have to splint the broken limb and the bone would slowly start to heal. These are just 2 short examples but i think its too easy to recover from any medical condition in game atm.
phoboss 224 Posted June 17, 2015 It's planned to make the medical system more complex, but it's not very high on the todo list. I'd say sometime during beta maybe.

ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) I'd like to have to use pliers to pull bullets out of myself. Maybe have to use antibiotics afterwards to ward off infection. Edited June 17, 2015 by ColdAtrophy
gibonez 3633 Posted June 21, 2015 Medical system should be a pillar of the base game thus should make its appearance soon hopefully along with the stamina and movement system. Having the damage model be purely based on hitpoints and hit location with multipliers is outdated and bad for a game like dayz. A medical system would add to the current model and hopefully make even a single gunshot fatal in the long run if the victim does not receive the proper care required.Along with such a medical system would hopefully come the negative implications of said injuries, Crippling shots, broken limbs, internal bleeding, organ failure, severely hindered movement. All of these things all together would raise the realism in dayz and the difficulty making your actions all the more consequential.
sgtpotatoes@gmail.com 30 Posted June 23, 2015 I'm surprised nobody mentions Snake Eater's medical system when this comes up. That seems like a good basis for DZ, I loved it.
warbird 1 Posted June 27, 2015 I kinda like the idea, if you're having an infenction either in the arm, you need to know the exact anti antibiotics but will it be too hard?

Whyherro123 2283 Posted June 28, 2015 Oh Lordie, if you're stabbed in the chest you're in a world of trouble that a little bandage can't fix.In a world with modern medicine only a couple of minutes away (assuming you are in an urban area, of course), you are in a world of trouble. LOTS of VERY important blood vessels in the chest to stab. In a world without modern medicine, clean facilities, or even "big-boy" (AKA actual injected/IV drip antibiotics), any stab wound is essentially a death sentence. Most injuries would be, in all seriousness. "I" know how to improvise antibiotics from certain plants/natural substances, but I am guessing many people don't. Or how to properly suture wounds closed. Zuulass 45 Posted June 28, 2015 i would be fine with a MGS3 style system except make everything an animation so it would take longer
Mullraugh 1151 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) Let's be honest. When was the last time someone chose a knife over an axe in a melee fight? Edited June 28, 2015 by mullraugh
