I killed myself... on purpose

A few weeks back after I fixed my PC, I resumed my progress on a server that I've played on for a couple weeks. Loaded out character, enough food/water/ammo to last me a month, and as I was wondering around the map, I found myself in a rather hilarious situation where I deemed it better to kill myself on purpose than let anyone kill me. Of course, my gear would still be for the taking- but it would be far more funny to see someone leap to their death knowing they were fully geared than opposed to putting up a worthy fight. I was bored. Bored with character, bored with searching for ammo for my AKM, and bored with everything else. I just wanted to start fresh. So I did. Coincidentally, my death was timed rather well the release of .57, so I can revel in the league of bambis wandering the shores/coast. 


My question to you is, fellow anonymous DayZ player/forum reader, is- have you ever killed yourself on purpose to start a "new life"?

Suicide is a common thing in this game, and these forums. I find it better to approach a firefight when you have extremely low odds of success. The thing I don't like is when desync decides to kill you. That is a tough mother...

I wouldn't kill myself just so others can't kill me.

But I killed myself for similar reasons you did.

Lived too long and wanted to start new but nobody was around. F11 wasn't in the game at that time so I jumped from a building.

Had a funny thing happening in Berezino. A guy jumped from the hospital to kill himself, but he survived. Didn't even break a leg.

He said: "Wow, I guess I am meant to live a while longer."

We had a good laugh and played together for a while.

I had decided I didn't like the character I was rolling with before, was having it too easy, plus my model choice bothered me, so I decided I could jump off a nearby factory building. I climbed up the ladder, and was shocked when I found the beanie hat I had been looking for for quite a while. I thought for a moment thinking it was a sign from the ultimate creators themselves that I was not meant to die that day, then decided "Lol nah that's crazy" and sprinted full speed over the edge. I landed on the ground, flew forward a bit, and kept on sprinting unscathed. I was in utter shock, realized my life was worth living, and ran back to the coast, met up with a friend, and had a very prosperous life.

i did it rather scenic, i climbed the Tower of Green Mountain, put my gear all around the tower balcony and then left a note saying "It's calling me", then suicided with my pistol

 

it was a day or two before the 0.57 server wipe and i was away for two days, so i don't know if anyone found it

I have killed myself because I accidentally killed my friend and he said to "keep his stuff anyway." just felt weird carrying it around so I used it to kill myself. I have also killed myself for touching duped gear, but whenever I feel good about my current character and start to get bored with it, I just hang around the major cities in high pops and hope to go out in a blaze of glory.

Once I had a tent and all the good shit but the problem was that it was on 1pp public and nobody plays on those servers. Every server had under 10 people so no chance of meeting anybody other than server hoppers. So I just shot all my guns at trees and rocks and finally just suicided...
