ramza789 0 Posted June 3, 2015 Ok so, this has happened twice in the last 24 hours. I've been bright green Energized/Hydrated for a long while without taking damage, with my screen fully colored and then a zombie 3 shots me. I don't get knocked out like usual, I just go right to being dead. I'm not sure if this is just RNG or if I'm fundamentally doing something wrong. Halp? Halp? This is apart of the "Bone Condition Meter" Which is a hidden meter theorized within the game. Go and google it if you'd like. There is a person on youtube explaining the whole process and meter. Including your blood and health meter. Interesting stuff, but basically, The bone meter is when a zombie hits you it slowly depleads by each hit. It cannot go back up. Only down. Over time this will kill you. That one zombie hit is the last bit of the meter going out. Enjoy. Keep zombies away.
tiadashi 262 Posted June 3, 2015 But people die this way as fresh spawns too, dont see how a "bone meter" would work there - I think that you can simply die from a zombie/creature whaling on you, which makes sense
tux (DayZ) 325 Posted June 3, 2015 This problem (feature?) has been addressed, and it's supposed to regenerate over time in the next patch. It was posted on twitter, too lazy to find it now.

Specifically the head and neck/spine. These can occur as one hit kills. Like mentioned this is all in-depthly explained within that video.

I havn't heard that. But it could be true. I have been rather out of date with current events regarding patches and future patches.

emuthreat 2837 Posted June 3, 2015 Hicks said that it was something to do with a quirk of their Scripting Language and Finite State Machine used in the game; he was not very specific, or particularly informative. He did include the term WIP, so I inferred that it was something that was related to an intended function of the game, but maybe one of those things that it is not worth addressing yet, because of engine overhaul. I looked for the tweet or post where I read that, for all of two minutes, and gave up. As it stands, there is no "invisible bone health meter" in the game, but it sounds like there may be some long-term player durability mechanics included down the road. Perigrin 105 Posted June 3, 2015 This whole bone thing is kinda BS in my opinion. just, no.
ramza789 0 Posted June 3, 2015 Ok so either way, it's not that I'm doing something stupid. At the end of the day, I essentially have a random chance to die per hit from a zombie, with said chance potentially increasing as I get hit more?

At the end of the day, I essentially have a random chance to die per hit from a zombie, with said chance potentially increasing as I get hit more? Before this hidden stat was addressed, it was more likely that the longer you stayed alive, the more likely chance you'd have of taking a critical hit. As I've posted above, there are plans to regenerate the stat in the next stable patch.
Porcelain (DayZ) 0 Posted June 3, 2015 (edited) Zombies have been known to 1-hit KO people since the mod. No one seems to know why or how to fix it. On a side note, why is the max image size 50kb? Is there some sort of technical limitation with the server or is it largely arbitrary? I have a bunch of stuff I wanna use as an avatar but this is quite literally the only one I have sub-50kb Edited June 3, 2015 by Porcelain
