nexventor 429 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) You have a peculiar opinion. I could see how a five year old would think that a mechanic is killing daddy's truck, but anyone at least halfway through highschool should be able to realize what is really happening. So many people complain about things not working right yet, or the bugs that never get addressed, but fail to see why some bugs just should not be addressed at this stage of completion. I am assuming that you know about the major modifications to the engine, upon which many future features will be built. So why the hell would they waste the time fixing parts of the software that they are certain will be thrown out in the near future? That's about as foolish as repainting your house before tearing off the siding to replace it with new. It sounds like you lost interest simply because persistence is being forced, rather than because the first try had such major problems. Well you have failed miserably at comprehending what my issue even though it is pretty straight forward. I have absolutely NO problem with bugs, glitches, desync, etc etc. THAT IS TOO BE EXPECTED. I fucking love persistence, it's the number one thing I have had on my wish since day zero. Not sure how this applies to what i said but fair enough 8) I'll reiterate... tiadashi, on 01 Jun 2015 - 1:22 PM, said:Sounds like it just wore off for you as all games do on people - you were just fine and "fearful" when you started playing and the amount of desynch and being concerned about other players havent changed over time enough to make a difference, (at least for me, been bugs/desynch since i started playing) other then me becoming more aware which made my survival much higher and therefore I have less to fear from other players (has nothing to do with the devs) The game has not "just" worn off on me and I am not sure why you keep bringing up desync/bugs into it, these are not my concerns. The fear is gone because the biggest and greatest threat was and always will be other players and that has been greatly nerfed. If no one has ammo/weapons to kill each other, human players are no longer a threat or at least a significant one, therefore your greatest fear becomes hunger (boring) and zombies (laughable). Even if zombies were an insane threat, killing an AI is far far less rewarding than killing a HP. The devs said they weren't going to cater to an particular play style and now they are. pilgrim* 3514 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) can't put your finger on the difference ? in the Mod it was the crazy-ass Zombies Edited June 1, 2015 by pilgrim
wasnu (DayZ) 392 Posted June 1, 2015 What made the mod fun was the PvP. It was the PvP that made Dayz popular. Why are they doing everything they can to prevent PvP from happening is beyond me. Focusing on PvE is a big mistake and they are not doing it right. Zombies are STILL a joke. In the mod they were secondary to me, because I was interested in PVP and not PvE. Me and my friends had so much fun fighting others. In the SA I don't even get gear I care about losing. This game have lost the intense feeling and the adrenaline you get when having good gear. The SA proves Rocket was just lucky with the mod. He couldn't even see what people liked about it and not. He failed so hard. The only reason this game sold so many copies is the thought it would be like the mod. I guess Rocket fooled a lot of people. hmm...how is it to live in your little world? could be other people out there which totaly disagree with your little sight of the world? PvP is not and was not the focus in the mod nore in the SA, it´s a part of the mod and a part of this alpha here, not more. No more deatchmatch in cherno, and that is GREAT. You can still try to do it, but it takes time to get your gear, so, stop complaining and go hunting for your bright shiny M4 and gorka outfit. Have fun :D

You are an experienced player. The fear will never come back in the way it was when you first started playing the game. However, what the game really needs now is a clear path of progression and some kind of character/item attachment so that when you die the loss is felt. This is the basic principle behind all roguelikes since the original Rogue.

The whole PvE thing will be boring if they are not doing it right, and they are not. More focus on PvP is needed.
boneboys 7988 Posted June 1, 2015 You are all wasting time comparing the SA with the Mod, or modifications of the original DayZ Mod. Player count may be low compared to six months/a year ago but it will go up (and down again) with different Alpha builds / beta builds & final release. Then when that has settled down and modding tools are released things will fluctuate more than ever, if the modding community is capable of achieving something interesting, worthwhile and fun to play. DayZ is far from dying but rather in the process of being born.
