New zombies make it more interesting, don't bleed off one hit anymore but seems to take forever to beat one to death with a broom. Also walked through some water, which was probably just enough to pass the sole level of my shoes and wet my socks a tad and my whole body was completely soaked. How I've missed this game. Heading in the right direction though, looking forward to seeing further developments. Stay safe, and dry compadres.
vfxtodd 125 Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) Yep, I die from dehydration or starvation sometimes. But I still enjoy playing. Made new friends here on the forums and sometimes run with them. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes planned for DayZ. Have fun. Edited May 9, 2015 by BulletGarden

Jim Bean 157 Posted May 9, 2015 Just found a white balaclava and a steak knife and instantly became The Jibber. Managed to kill a bandit and 8 zombies before losing my battle with starvation. You couldn't write this stuff, but you can type it.

Jim Bean 157 Posted May 9, 2015 Did you have to even use your AK? I fucking wish, you think I'd be making up action hero names to explain why I'm running round jibbing people with a tiny knife if I had an AK.. Just found an mp5 however, shit gon get serial. Heading in the right direction though, looking forward to seeing further developments. Stay safe, and dry compadres. Play the new experiemntal build. The zeds are a bit easier to kill but they come in hordes now (I love you Devs!). A buddy and I were in the tent city behind Myshkino and were literally attacked by about 50 infected. We had to pull out the automatic weapons to survive. I've been waiting for something like this for almost two years. I'm one happy survivor. We hit the Military base southeast of Pavlovo and the same insanity insued. I got trapped in one of the barracks with my trusty repeater and about 15 infected. It was a bloody affair. I then proceeded to axe around 15 more in the surrounding area. If the numbers of infected stay high when .56 is pushed to the stable branch DayZ will have finally passed a milestone, i.e., lots of infected making survivla challenging.

ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted May 10, 2015 I have a 970 and I'm now running almost every setting at max, but I had to bump my i5-4690k to 4.5ghz to make it work. I guess my FPS avergae would be around 40, 60 out in the wilderness areas, and 25-40 in cities. Believe it or not, adding an FPS limiter through Rivatuner with Vsync turned out to be the final piece of the puzzle for mouse response, "smoothness" even at lower FPS, and overall playability.

ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) I use rivatuner, can you elaborate on what exactly you did Basically, I used the Rivatuner OSD, or on screen display, and set it (through the options in Afterburner) to display GPU usage, GPU clock frequency, GPU power target, GPU temperature, and to display the CPU usage and temp of all 4 of my cores. From there, you have to see what specifically is changing each time you change a setting in the game. For example, If Post Processing is set to Very Low or Disabled, it isn't loading your GPU. If I turn Post Processing to Low or higher, my GPU usage goes up by ~15-20%. So basically, what you are doing is choosing which settings you really like having on and then figure out what combination of settings loads your GPU and CPU without overtaxing them and losing a ton of frames. One other VERY important thing I did was change the scenecomplexity line in my .cfg file for DayZ to 150000. When you have Objects set to low, this value is set to 200000. After extensive testing, I found that, for whatever reason, having Object set any higher severely hinders my ability to use many of the other settings that I enjoy in the game. It is my suspicion that by telling the engine to use such a low setting for rendering in general, but having most everything else that affects what objects look like to me up close set to Very High, I am essentially forcing things that are out of my immediate view (for the most part) to quit taxing my system as hard. PM me if you want to know more and I will share with you whatever I can. It really was an enjoyable process and I really like to help people. ;) Edited May 12, 2015 by ColdAtrophy
