Where's my server?

Recommended Posts

Server down, server down! We need a medic over here!

I've searched for this and came up empty, so I am asking here...

I've seen this a few times that a server I enjoy playing on will disappear for a few days and then return. Does anyone know what may cause this? Is there a chance that one may not return, say if the renter decides to stop paying for it? How about 'official' servers, how are they identified and who pays for them? Are they more likely to remain in service than servers rented by individuals or small groups of players (clans)?

if you have filters on your server list (like 'ping less than 200'), your server might have wandered outside of your filter parameters for a few days

The private low pop I liked is gone too, there's a good chance the "owner" stopped paying their bill.

I considered that but alas, it's confirmed down on gametracker.com also.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully our favorite servers will return (mine has a pretty bitchin camp set up). A server that I was testing tent persistence on disappeared for a few days and when it returned my tent was even still there! DayZ never fails to confuse me!

Mine had 2 pristine army tents and a truck stashed but I cant really complain since I'm not the one paying the rental.

It would be cool if the server hosting companies would leave the servers up, but just revoke the admin rights when the renter stops paying.  I've got a bag of magazines on a server that went offline three days ago, but mine is an official server.

I've lost a great many of my favorite private hives, Chicago, Mob Society, Wolfs Den, Eve, and about 15 others dropped off my favorites list in the weeks after the update.

The simple answer is that the direction the devs were heading with the game was only fun for a minority of the players and thus, the majority left the game, the server owners didn't see a point in owning a server no one ever got on so they shut them down.

DayZ population seems to be at an all time low, even at prime time the numbers are pitiful. I wonder if the devs will continue their forward march in this heavily PVE direction or if they will take notice of what the majority want and make a game that the majority of their customers would be happy with. Probably no point now, even after they removed their sorry new loot system the numbers have still stayed low, they probably burnt thousands out on this game.
