how do i make it run better without sacrificing too much.

Recommended Posts

this game doesnt even use 800mb of vram...... it actually runs smoother at higher resolution than it does at lower but i still get 20-25fps in small towns..... dont blame my system (gtx 970, i7 4790 and 16gb of 2133mhz ram. can someone point me in the right direction.

Wait until at least beta?

The game is not optimized yet and hardware doesn't really make a difference.

My tower is 6+ years old, my vid card is a cheap knock off and I'm getting the same performance as you on mid-high settings at 3840X720.

Easy way to get better performance- wait until full release.

The game isn't even in Beta yet so there will be zero optimization for a long time.

The new renderer will begin to be phased in about a month or so but it won't result in massive immediately or even when fully implemented until the game is further optimized.

Don't want to sound like a jerk by the way, I just think that a lot of people expect the performance from a finished product in an extremely early build of the game. Also, there was a thread about this earlier today so it should still be on the top page. If you need to play around with the config files then just google DayZ FPS guide and you'll get some results that may help.

This is actually something you'll have to keep in mind for DayZ:

having lower settings doesn't actually make you benefit performancewise.

I am running 2560x1080 and have the game supersampled at 200% resolution and I get constant playable 50 FPS. Try it out yourself. Along with some performance tweaks available on the Internet (.cfg edits and launchparameters)

i just find it stupid how after all this time its still in a too much of an early stage, look at h1z1 i enjoy that game not just because its good but because its "playable", i would enjoy dayz if it was playable to an acceptable level but its not and hasn't been for two years or however long its been out.

they need to make that a priority and theyve been told this by many paying customers, we dont want stupid things like buses and tents. we want smooth gameplay.

you could make the greatest game of all time but if its not smooth its not going to make it.

What's the point in optimizing the game if the next thing you add can break it, also no point optimizing anything when they are rebuilding almost the entire engine including the renderer.

The whole point of an Alpha stage isn't to get a 'playable game', we aren't even getting a game, we are getting access to the development build. Effectively we are playtesting and finding bugs not playing a finished product, so keep patient with things and the game will come good.

I have an AMD setup, and I accept that I will probably not see anything better than the mid 20's for a while.  Supposedly Intel processors run it better right now.

Try to look at it this way: once you have mastered the art of trapping zombies at 7 frames per second, when the full release is ready, you'll be a NINJA.

Woot, X2 Athlon 3800 with a slight OC here I go down to 2 fps in some places.

I hear Intel CPUs are where it's at in general these days.
