Help, My char loads in main screen, but load fresh spawn ingame

Hi exactly the title. Its strange I just logged off after feeding my tent on a 1p/3p Pub server. I am trying to log into over 10+ 1p/3p Pub servers yet they are respawning me with 30 sec timer as a fresh spawn, but my char is still back at the load screen. I promise im not confusing private shards with public or 1st with 3rd, or 1p/3p. This happen?

pfftt... is this a joke? For 2 months, I avoided joining servers with time 8:00 ,9:00, or any time that could be restart time. I never logged out of combat, made sure to log out in defenseless stance, never aiming or during combat. Always joined stable servers, actually switched only around 3 public servers to be safe. 2 months of playing it safe, where could I have gone wrong? All I did was log back in to the same server and this shit. I mean it doesn't really matter, all it comes down to is I'm going to take another long ass break from this game and go play something else. Seriously though? Also, the date on the top right corner for all pub servers are October 11, some past year. IDK if this has to do with anything. I guess I'll go play H1z1 or something, at least they have persistent characters.

Yeah, sounds like you've been reset. However carefully you follow best practice - doing all the things you say in terms of logging out safely, etc - it's still a risk (especially after a new patch IME). If you are reset, the main character screen will continue to display your old char for a little while.

 

I feel your pain.

 

The Oct 11 thing has been around for quite a while. Probably since Oct 11... :)

Look, if the first server you join does not have a connection to the central hive, that stores the character data, when you join the server the server gives you a new character.
and if you stuck around long enough on the server for it to connect to the hive again, it saves your character as freshspawn-joe. instead of domination-jack.
 

It is a problem with the server-structure, it will be resolved eventually, but standard procedure is to go "F**k!" and log back out, and hope that your dude isnt gone forever.

I do believe that the date in the top corner is either some legacy stuff, or just the date of ALL the servers, just different times on the same day.
You take a break, Dayz will be here when you get back.

You may be surprised and find that your character will load, if the server had some connection difficulty with the central Hive.

 

The Date is mission time, Oct 11 is a good date, it's a little chilly in the early morning & evening but not too cold, just wrap up well and you will be fine, keep a rain coat handy in case of autumn storms.

 

Ideally the game will be real time depending on server location, hot summer evenings and freezing cold winter nights, brrrr, brass monkeys !

You know what, Karma exists. I've respawned at a location/area I've never explored and within 2 hours I found things I never came across on my previous char (mindset was that I had the best items back then). There's a lot more to Dayz and a character reset once in a while opens up opportunities. Don't give up if your char reset! (on my previous char, I had M4 with all attachments, mosin w/ scope, protector case, ammo box, you name it) (bet you're wondering the hell i found better than those hehe, omgggggg you don't even KNOW)

Its happened to me alot.

I will log out safe and geared and then when i go back in i will be a new spawn on the same server. What settled  me is that i went to another server and i loaded as my full character again, hmmm. I went back to the original one i played on most of the time and i loaded back in normally.

 

Stuff happens like this when its a remote system and its really up to connections to make things right, they do all sorts of weird stuff.

best thing to do IMO is stop the game if you newspawn - dont even log out ingame or touch anything, drop out to Windows and stop DayZ, then start up again and try some other server.. this gives you a chance to get your state back. If you freshspawn, and start doing things (even log out) and the server saves your position, you're doomed.
