the reaction to mass amounts of zeds worry me

MMmm sounds fun untill you run into cherno with a average comp and watch your FPS go.... pfffrtttttwarblegarblenonotdoingitanymore.

Itll be great once this 40$ game requires a 1500$ rig to run it.

I wanna see it become a dilemma whereby you choose whether to go out of your camp/house/barricaded scrapyard at all because of the hordes of infected out there. You should wait until nightfall and sneak out, none of this jogging around freely in broad daylight. It should be apocalyptic.

More zeds, more horror, more player skill, knowledge and intuition needed to succeed. 

you hit it on the head. to me the best weapon is and should be our brain.

I'd like more zeds, but they need to have a set number and not respawn. If dayz wants to be more realistic then you wouldn't have infected people poping out of thin air. You should be able to clear a town and the surrounding area.

they have confirmed that you will be able to clear areas and that for more zeds to show up they will have to either wander into that area again through luck or through you making noise. and as for popping out from thin air i havn't seen that happen for awhile its gotten alot better.

i have a 1500$ (actually more) rig and it still has been known to tank FPS. DayZ is not a mod anymore and if they can't make this run at a reasonable (50-60FPS) on the average gaming machine (lets say 750-1k range) they should get utterly slammed for it. just has hard ans any AAA release that does that shit and trys to excuse it away. i know were far from optimization stage but when they do go to final release this thing best be humming. perhaps not at max settings on a budge build, but it should still run at 50FPS on system reqs. machine with min settings

If your building it yourself and not dropping big $ on specialty peripherals you can easily meet most games required specs at that price range (and often exceed them). my point being that if i drop my settings the damn game should run reasonably at specs on the box/on the store page. period. Should you be able to run Ultra? super high-resolution on multi-monitor or HDMI output to a widescreen with min specs? of course not. but you should be able to get good performance at modest to low settings on a single monitor. if thats not the case they either need to adjust the specs upwards or do more optimization.

 

people also need to stop going to bestbuy/walmart or ordering prebuilt 'gaming' machines online and paying a premium for hardware they could have shopped around for and gotten much cheaper.

You are aware the game is still not optimized, right?  Once beta hits and performance doesn't start improving then you'll be justified in complaining

yes. if you read my entire original post instead of simply defending the precious-

as i said. i don't expect anyone to be maxing settings, running multi-displays or insane resolutions on a minimum requirements system. I do however expect a serious dedication to reasonable performance when you start charging for your product.

You do not get those expectations when it was clearly stated that this game is in alpha and may have issues running.  I suggest you come back once beta hits.  These threads are redundant, pointless and clutter up the forums.

did you again miss the big bolded red text where i specified when they go to final releaseas in the point where the game is 'done'. not alpha, not beta, not early access. release. and yes i do get to excpect a game that's being sold not distributed for free as a mod, to run decently on the advertised required specs when it reaches release, and if it doesn't imho it's perfectly reasonable to slam the devs for releasing a crappy product.

 

AGAIN, AT RELEASE. NOT ALPHA/BETA/RIGHT NOW.

Indeed. im not sure how the coding in SA works, but the way it behaves it really feels like a from of 'hit scan' that is when the zed swings the server decides if it hit, rather than an actual physical simulation of a part of the zombie contacting a part of the player model (collision). Or much more likely, its just tied to the desynch. however i would think in a 'collision detection' model it would still be a case of what you see is what you get, even if a bit delayed.

 

either way its definitely something that needs to be sorted before beta/release is considered. if the zombie doesn't actually touch me it shouldn't hit me. period.

I think these new changes with .55 were vary much needed and long over due, I welcome it. Just playing an hour last night, I felt it seems it really is turning into a surival game. Were you need to be thoughtful about everything you do. The zombies are more of concern then other players.

 

Before .55 you could gear up in an hour. You could visit a couple helo crashs and be armed to the teeth with all this high end military gear. There were all these COD fuckfest wreckless pvpers out there. Aimlessly pvping just for thrills with no regard to there avatars well being, jack assing around. Survival was just some boring novelty to them. Loot was everywhere, and zombies were broken and really easy to kill. The game was turning into a fucking joke.  I stoped playing......I really was getting sick of it. I alway survived really long times, and pvp even was becoming predictible and easy. Becuase most of those type of player always gravitated at the same god dam places. About the only thing I could say good about it.

 

I say to these COD players, if you dont like the way this is going feel free to check out ARMA 3. All the cool guns are there, all the gear is there. Go play it. Theres no more free rides here, this is a surival game. Go fire up your X-Box. Rejoice!

 

As far as H1Z1 goes Im not playing it! SOE sucks. Even if I decided to quit playing the SA which I recently came close too, I will not play that turd.

true enough. now lets just hope they can actually make the zeds and mele combat behave properly and predictably. (by predictable i don't mean predictable AI, but work consistently.) zeds that dont actually make contact with my player model shouldn't be doing damage, mele needs to be less dodgy and unreliable and heavy blunt-force mele weapons need a considerable damage buff. especially when applied to the head hit-box.

 

yeah yeah alpher and all that crap but they really do need to adress the dodgy netcode and get the game down to 'what you see is what you get' consistency. preferably sooner rather then later.

I have not fought any zombies yet in .55, I really wanted to avoid them. I found I was able to get about 20 feet away from them and was able to loot really sneaky like. Almost had a hitman game feel to it. I heard there pretty OP so I did not want to fight them unless I really had too lol But I enjoy sneaking and stealth in games so, this was a positive change to me.

 

They should be able to be killed though in a reasonable manor. To me it seems I always have melee problems on high ping servers pre .55. Hand to hand combat is pretty crude in the SA and there is nothing worse the being hit by a zombie that is 10 feet away to have items ruined.  It is dodgy. I agree I rather have smoother and better mechanics right now then more items and new map locations. Get it running smoother then put the new stuff in.

think  the Z's are too strong now, it has gone crazy, they ruin gear thats hard to find so quickly. not to mention taking 5-6 whacks to the head with a fire axe, that just wouldnt happen, would be like 2 hits max one to open up the skull and the other to damage the brain killing them. never ever gonna stand a chance with a few of them, not in a millioj years. it has been taken too far and takes alot of fun out of the game.

It's not that bad in my opinion, you just can't run around towns anymore. I just think they should have gone with zombies being really strong but kinda slow, or really fast and weaker. They went for the super fast and super strong zombies which is not a totally bad thing, It makes the game a lot more interesting than before.

For one thing, zombies aren't fully developed yet. For another, DayZ isn't like other zombie games, where the player can go through hundreds of zombies without dying. It's meant to be a challenge. A real zombie apocalypse wouldn't be easy, and DayZ is meant to be a zombie apocalypse simulator.

i agree, but over all mele needs to be stronger. things like fire axes and sledges to an un-porotected head should be 1-HK. and no it wouldn't be unbalanced considering it's useles unless your within arms reach anyways.

so I've seen they have added a shit ton of zeds on H1Z1 yes i have mentioned a title that shall not be named but please just give it sec. so they added a lot of zeds 

and the community is bitching and crying that there are to many that they can't PVP they can't drink water boo fuckin hoo i eat there tears for sustenance. So its got me worried about one of the few games i really care about Dayz now i imagine the zeds are gonna be harder to deal with in this game once they are implemented and running top notch. this has me worried i personally want the game to be brutal i want the zeds to never give up and i want to encounter them anywhere and everywhere i want to use the best weapon i can my brain against them. i understand some do not like this and want to just pew pew all damn day and fight humans i get that but its not what i want nor what i signed up for. i hope the dev team become clear about there plans to implement them which they have given us an idea but what can we really expect in numbers and danger that way when it happens no one is crying or bitching or starting petitions to get it changed back to a TDM. i'm curious as to your all thoughts maybe i'm just being delusional but i can see it happening to this game to once the shit really hit the fan so to speak.

Im loving this update!! Its finaly going towards real dayz I remember from my early mod days. Moaning that zombies ruin PvP??? Only by spoiled 12 year olds. If you want to be real KOSer, be a man to sneak up on your target unnoticed, kill him as fast as you can and get the f@ck out of there!!

No more 3 hours camping sessions. And when zeds learn to climb stairs, than even more pussies will give up.

i see your point that melee should be stronger and a hit from an axe to the head should kill them in 1 hit as its an axe lol but i don't see it going as smooth as walking dead when they can just stab zed in the head so easily these are rage fueled infected full of adrenaline i think if you would go head to head with them and you don't have a shield or face protection etc you would get hit. since we can't make shield and there is no riot shield implemented they need to adjust or implement something i never did like the side-step thing though i used it it seemed cheap and i felt like i was exploiting sometimes which it probably was but hell why ruin my gear. now i just sneak if i get caught i run unless cornered then its shotgun time. went through elektro looted thw whole place didn't get caught till i was leaving then i just ran.

be sneaky man its so much easier than fighting them have none of you played metal gear or the older splintercell or even thief. stealth man stealth.

Difference between H1Z1 and Dayz zombies is that in H1Z1 they move in predictable patters, and doesn't break the laws of physics.

 

I like how the zombies are in dayz now. They just need to be less buggy and tone down the run speed of them a little and we are good.
