thefriendlydutchman 160 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) In the mod you had plotpoles which protected your base from being build on so my idea now is quite similar but with a twist :D As persitence servers are not working that well and are looted up in no time (which encourages server hopping if you've got a base) we should remove persistence servers and instead get persistence poles Persistence poles are poles you can stick in the ground creating an ''persistence zone'' 10 meters around the pole, the pole is easily destroyed so people really need to defend or hide their pole (so you cant just build a base in electro with 4 poles, as it is quite risky) Items and tents (objects) and cars do not dissapear on server restart when in the persistence pole EDIT: a pole will fill up 6x4 so a huge part of your inventory What if you want to build a bigger base?: a standard small pole has 5 slots and starts off with 10 meters so just enough for a tent and a campfire now when you craft the pole (cookingtripod+burlap wrap (kinda looks like a flag) you can upgrade it by adding ducktaped iron pole to the slots which will make the pole higher and so easier to spot so how bigger the base how easier you will see a burlap flag peak out of the trees. tommy290 941 Posted March 16, 2015 If the persistence mechanic isn't working, how is adding another object with persistence capabilities going to help? It seems that it would actually be making the system work harder, because now it has to add in a "persistence check" to see if there's a plot pole before deciding whether to keep track of an object. I would think the better solution is to simply keep working on global persistence until it functions correctly.

kichilron 8550 Posted March 16, 2015 Yes, because whenever I go camping I need to carry a pole with me to protect me from other people and if I don't put my pole down first I can't build my tent. Happens to me everytime. And it's quite hard to get yourself a new pole when you're out in the woods.

You must be thinking of a different type of pole ;).
Rags! 1966 Posted March 16, 2015 I can imagine a bunch of noobs running around with poles in their hands, frantically staking their claim around Chernarus like this is the Eastern Bloc version of Manifest Destiny or some shit.
