Sjevefjes 0 Posted March 31, 2015 This actaully works for me, sounds dumb but damnn it really works. Yep, this worked for me too. My variant of this was that i moved my DayZ_BE to the desktop, and then started DayZ normally from Steam. It started up, but crashed when trying to join a server. Then i put back the DayZ_BE to the original folder, and started the game again, and caboom, problem solved.
HelpPl0x 0 Posted April 6, 2015 So I wanted to play DayZ and I got to open my game from my steam library and out of nowhere a message saying: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe for more detail." Any suggestions would be helpful, no 'uninstall and re-install please.' pilgrim* 3514 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Type exactly this into your browser search bar: "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe for more detail." when I use this to search I get things like : << This is being caused by a missing C++ redistributable, vcredrist_x86.exe. Fix:1. Update windows, including security updates.or2. Manually download and install the appropriate version of vcredrist_x86.exe (link below). Link to site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347 It is the 3rd file in that list. >> Different sites seem to agree this C++ redistributable is the problem. 1 ) Update windows.2 ) Check DayZ game integrity using Steam... I guess that should fix it...3 ) If you still have the problem download the correct C++ redistributable by hand (as long as you can work out which C++ redistrib is the good one for your system) xx [This answer will cost you 35 credits. blazinone 72 Posted April 7, 2015 I found a fix on accident I don't know If it will work for all but here it is. I went to my DayZ folder and I took my DayZ_BE application out of it and put it on my desktop. and then started DayZ.exe from the folder. I then got an error saying it was missing the executable, so I dragged the DayZ_BE application back into the DayZ folder and then I started DayZ from my desktop. I hope this helps anyone that couldn't find a fix. This worked for me. I had recently re-installed Windows 8 and was "in between" a few different Windows Updates and got the error after a reboot and could no longer play the game. Tried everything else including validate game files, reboot, etc. and finally gave this a shot and it worked! Thanks a lot.

PRNathan 0 Posted April 10, 2015 Recently when playing DayZ I force quited the game rather than using the exit button. Whenever I have tried to load up DayZ after that I receive the following error message. "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." I've looked into what this error message is, and most solutions involve reinstalling visual c++ packages, all of them, which I've now done multiple times. Others include editing registry files which I've also done. I'm not sure what the command-line sxstrace.exe tool is, and all previous solutions I've tried have been unsuccessful, so I was wondering if someone with more technological knowledge than I would be willing to troubleshoot my problem and hopefully get me back to surviving on the fields of Chenarus, Thanks in advance. UprisingCactus 0 Posted April 29, 2015 Last Sunday I downloaded DayZ on my new PC <3. It worked great all night and there was absolutely no problems with the game. Then the next day I couldn't get it to work. It kept saying there was a problem with a side-by-side application. I was told I needed C++ files or something like that. They didn't help at all... I decided to uninstall the game and re-install it, and now when I click play or the short cut it does absolutely nothing. i couldn't even find the DayZ file on my PC. I only got the shortcut. I've re-installed the game 5 times now! Still have the same problem... Will someone please tell me how to fix this terrible problem? -Cactus
