    Side by Side error when starting game.

    Yep, this worked for me too. My variant of this was that i moved my DayZ_BE to the desktop, and then started DayZ normally from Steam. It started up, but crashed when trying to join a server. Then i put back the DayZ_BE to the original folder, and started the game again, and caboom, problem solved.
