ThePhilosopher 0 Posted March 10, 2015 Since the 0.54 update (or for sure this week at least) the V3S seems to do much worse when climbing hills, even with shift pressed, and I just cannot seem to reach the Kamensk area at all from the south, no matter which road I choose. It was bad enough before, but this is just crazy: I don't expect to climb Mt Everest with the thing, but surely I should be able to drive on asphalt roads... Anyone else had this experience? thewire 88 Posted March 10, 2015 We (schwaBAM and I) had some trouble getting on a hill Svetlojarsk. But our truck is like super slow, going 35 mph only! lol

It was bad enough before, but this is just crazy: I don't expect to climb Mt Everest with the thing, but surely I should be able to drive on asphalt roads... Anyone else had this experience? What sort of truck was it? The 2 seater or the one with the cargo bay? Reason for asking is...We (schwaBAM and I) had some trouble getting on a hill Svetlojarsk. But our truck is like super slow, going 35 mph only! lol ^^^ these guys were using the one with the cargo bay which does seem to be super-duper slow even on flat terrain. However, I have extensively travelled the map in multiple regular (i.e. non-cargo) V3S trucks since 0.54 hit and they are much, much quicker than they used to be - I can drive uphill from a standing start without boost and it actually moves. In fact, if anything, they may have been buffed a little too much!. Calvin Candie 189 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Am I the only one blazing in these trucks at lightning speeds? What is the problem?Latest one I stole, or found, depends on what your point of view is, got me from North West Airfield to Vibor in matter of seconds. That is the truth my friends. Evil Minion 943 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) First: The truck looks slow because everyone traveling on foot does so with ridiculous speed so it seems to be slower in comparison. Second: It's an old truck going up a hill. You can use the turbo to help with that. Third: In real life you would have a stick shift and adjust your gears according to the situation. In DayZ your Character does it for you and he/she doesn't do that well (why not make the player do it in the first place?). trujuice 56 Posted March 10, 2015 Using the V3S quite-a-bit before and after here are my thoughts; Before: Better and more responsive steering this made it feel more realistic to me. However the momentum issue ruined it as downhill was lightning and uphill was snail. After: It jumps and jives all over the place just walking up to one it starts hopping. I have flown flipped and tumbled all to land back on wheels and drive off. However, I feel that the momentum issue was resolved and now going up and down hill feels more as it should. Final thoughts: I like the realistic stability (rubber to the road - weight) of the old V3S with the momentum tweak of the new. But they still need to fix that the truck cannot drive through signs or fences.
odin_lowe 3686 Posted March 10, 2015 I hit the turbo and it zoomssss!! I don't have much problem with the V3S really. It easily turns to it's side like an SUV, but can be avoided by not turning the wheel too fast. I just tap it and it does wonders.
Girth Brooks 570 Posted March 10, 2015 Been driving off-road pretty much exclusively lately and they climb hills just fine for me. The drivers perspective is a bit wonky though. And the trucks can bounce and splat you as you walk up . I've been super careful lately walking up to them.

ThePhilosopher 0 Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks for the responses -- it turned out to be a temporary glitch of some sort, because when I went back in a few hours later, the truck was very fast, indeed, as several posters noted above, faster than it used to be, it seemed to me. But for a while there it just could not move uphill. On a truck related note: I noticed that upon returning to the (now much faster) truck, the gas meter showed the tank as being full, whereas when I logged off it was only on half. I have not noticed that before -- is it regular that it fills itself after a while?
