how do you stay warm?

Recommended Posts

Put warm clothes on, run, be near a fire, carry hot stones (or guts) around.

I don't think being inside makes any difference.

Also ... keep dry:

Stay out of the rain,

Stay out of streams and ponds,

Wring clothes out if they get wet,

Replace wet clothes with dry clothes,

Find rain gear to wear.

I second the post above. Rain gear can save your life. If you find one, put it in your pack, it only takes up two slots. You don't have to always wear it if you don't like the way it looks. When it rains, switch your gear.

Keeping dry is the most important part about not freezing. I died of hypothermia one time because I spend a few hours looking for a raincoat in the rain. Even while constantly stopping to drying of my clothes in the fire and warm up, I just couldn't keep up with my dropping temperature. Since then I always keep one in my bag.

My character is always cold?

You seem new to the game. I will try my very best, to teach you how to refrain from getting cold.

When you first spawn, you have a simple shirt and jeans. You want to run to the nearest towns, and look for and wear wool coats, raincoats, hoodies, sweaters, jackets. Anything that looks like it will keep you warm.

Next you want to find matches. You can find them in almost any building in the big cities such as Electro and Cherno and Berizino that are along the coast. (make sure it is a low-op server so it is unlooted)

After you have warm clothes and matches, you need preferably an axe. Then if (even with your warm clothing) you get cold, you make rags from shirts and clothing items, go up to a tree with your axe out and cut it down. You should get logs in any extra 2x2 space in your inventory. Then you want to drag the axe to the logs and make sticks. Then combine sticks with rags to make a fireplace kit, then you want to add logs to the already made fireplace kit, and light her up! That will get you warm! (make sure to do it inside, if its raining)

Here's a video:

Carry sticks and matchbox and you can make a fire in seconds to warm you up. Not being damp also helps a lot so swap out damp clothes for others when you can.

You can also find warming packs (those gel type things to warm your hands up). I dont know how effective those are tho. I also wonder if using one in your pants plus a jacket or vest would add to the warmth...

All u really need to find to make a fire are matches. The rest you can gather literally everywhere.

Go and find a book. They are in every village, just check the houses. Right click the book and tear out a page.

Go into a forest. With nothing in your hands crouch and look at the floor. Scroll with your mouse wheel...search for kindling. Repeat until you find "something". You will see a stick in your inventory or in your vicinity (if not enough room in your inventory).

Combine paper and stick to create a fireplace kit.

You can add more sticks you find for fuel. But I think in the actual version you only need fuel if you want to cook something.

Gorka is also great way to keep warm. It comes in many colors and is waterproof, unless you plan taking a dunk in a lake or river.
