The new melee sounds are just... Bad

I don't understand the new melee swinging sounds, they are just not right and unrealistic in every single way. I understand if you were using a stick as a weapon because if you swing a stick at speed then it will make that sound, but all the heavy duty items like the sledgehammers? Wtf lol, just not right and seems sily to add in my opinion. Anyways what does everyone else think of it?

I agree with OP just seems a little too childlike of a sound to bring in haha nevermind, alpha is alpha afterall

(Don't go hating just yet folks)

 

This... They just added one (or a couple) of sound files to synch with a hitting animation and check whether you, your buddy, and the guy who's trying to kill you can hear anything being played at all in a given scenario.

 

I'm sure once the system works they'll add specialised sound for each weapon and synch the timings correctly with the animation.

 

My problem is that I actually didn't expect melee sounds to be ever added to the game, nor did I ever thought it was necessary. I chopped quite a few logs in my life and never heard the axe make a *swoosh* during a swing. A machete would make some sense, but an axe? I have a disturbing feeling that the concept of a realistic simulator of a zombie apocalypse just took one step towards becoming "video-gamey"(?)

When ever you swing a object that is long (longer than 2 feet) it will make a whooshing sound because it is displacing the air. i think it is fine. hater gonna hate tho.

well they can just turn it down then, plus they are trying to make it as if you are your character so sounds are enhanced and there are placeholders for some.

not with as slow as the weapons are swung in the game. you would have to swing the weapons much faster to disperse the air.

A place holder for something that shouldn't even have any sound? that doesn't make any sense.

I have swung many an axe...and none of them made any noise.

 

Devs must be using a special nerf whistler version of the axe.

 

I really don't care either way...just hilarious the devs think the axe needs a swinging noise.

 

Meh.
