Woody1888 22 Posted January 21, 2015 Was thinking about voice communication the other day... Most of us will use a program that allows us to communicate with our friends anywhere which is obv not very realistic. Was thinking of ways round about it. The only thing that I think would work is stop using push to talk in-game and have players mics on all the time! So anytime you speak over TS or whatever you would be basically talking in game. Whats uz think?

Whats uz think? Good idea, but it wouldn't matter anyway. You forgot to factor in that not everyone is using a mic when playing Dayz and some people might have cool headphones that allows you to mute the mic at any time, like mine (logitech g35). There are enough people that talk to their friends in proxi chat and give away their location as it is lol. What I would like to see fixed soon is the in-game ambient sound. I tire of hearing rustling chainlink fences in the woods, and the random zombie scream with no zed nearby.

I tire of hearing rustling chainlink fences in the woods, and the random zombie scream with no zed nearby. My thoughts as well owning the same set of headphones. Its a good idea but in reality this would be so hard to keep pure while in the game. Somebody is always going to be able to mute or find a way to communicate outside of the game. I too am soooooo ready for the new sound engine to be introduced. I used to be so paranoid when I first played b/c I thought I heard a door close when at that time there was no door closing sound actually in the game. :D

McWendy 675 Posted January 24, 2015 The system as it is now is fine. No need to mess with it. People can and always will find a way to use 3rd party programms. And i am all for it. Nobody is wanting to hear my kids trough the mic. Nor do i want squeakers. I do want the hearing distance adjusted. But lets face it the sound engine needs that overhaull fast.
liquidcactus 719 Posted January 25, 2015 hahaa no way man! noooo way can we have players mics constantly on... thats a laughable idea ! This is an issue that we all think about from time to time but defs no mics constantly on..
Mos1ey 6301 Posted January 25, 2015 hahaa no way man! noooo way can we have players mics constantly on... thats a laughable idea ! This is an issue that we all think about from time to time but defs no mics constantly on.. Actually, I think it is the kind of "in a perfect world" solution. The problem is that it would give a bigger advantage to the people that circumvented it.
therandomredstone 432 Posted January 25, 2015 This would be a good idea, but Mos1ey is right. Things like this, there will be youtub tutorials on how to bypass. And whileyou have those actually GOOD players that don't want to break the rules, you will have this group of 14 year olds that are chatting over teamspeak, having an unfair advantage over you. Maybe when mods come out, someone would do something like this. But the chances are almost none. I'd be all for it.. buut
Beizs 186 Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) People will be able to get around it by just disabling their mic in game (which can't be removed as a possibility, sorry). That'll mean that they're even less likely to try to talk to you and be friendly and it'll take a turn for the worse. If you expect to hear players talking no matter what, and they've all disabled their mics and are communicating on team speak, you're going to be caught off guard a lot easier. It's a nice idea, but I really don't think that anything can be done about it, short of stopping players from joining the game if TeamSpeak or other, similar programs are on (which could be done), but I think that's a bit too invasive for a game, honestly. TSVStriFe (DayZ) 13 Posted February 10, 2015 Me and my friend tried the walkie-talkies and it works darn great tbh, I don't see any use to change this, mainly since you don't use the Local Chat or Vehicle Channel or what not, you can just choose a channel and talk away, ofcourse the range is short, but that does give a realistic way that you want to stick close, since you can't tell what the range is of something atm or the actual range of the walkietalkie, you need to try stuff out.
