ToySmokes 116 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) Maybe this takes way to much time for the developers and in the end it won't be for any good for some people. But I feel like all the towns and cities in Chernarus looks pretty much the same. I mean they have there differenses in terrain and all but it still doens't feel like a discovery like it should when you find a new town. I think that all the Chernarus towns/cities needs something that's speciell for just that place like a building or something else. Or at least that it's built in a sort of different way.As it is now you just find a town. You run in and out through all the houses looking for loot. Then you just run to the next town with the same old feeling that you just want to get there as fast as possible and start having a boring loot run again in a town that you've seen before and that "feels" pretty much the same as the one before did (sorry for bad a description but you know what feeling I'm talking about). I think DayZ needs a bit of that extra feeling when you come in to a new town, that you actually found something worth checking out. Maybe not only for the loot, but also for the experiens and the surounding. I want that everytime you start DayZ and plays it. It feels like a journy throughout the whole day(z). And I think that that will prevent players from getting bored in the long run. Well this has a lot with map design to do (duh) and maybe in the future when people can create there own maps, there will show up a map that is like this that I'm describing here. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Anyways... Didn't really know if this fits in the suddgestions topic or General Discussions but I hope that you understand what I'm trying to say. Please comment if you have anything on you mind relaiting to this topic Edited December 27, 2014 by MrCactusMan
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted December 27, 2014 I do have to agree to a small degree, but it's mostly because they have a limited pool of buildings to work with. And a lot of the buildings look similar anyway even if they are different. For commercial buildings and the like that can be explained by cookie cutter blueprints drafted by the Soviets to get buildings built quicker, and the fact that architects will usually try to make buildings similar to nearby buildings so that they match the facade so to speak. Would be nice if they added a few variations to buildings, like if Berezino had a different hospital layout than Cherno or Electro. In my disagreement, layout of a town does make a big difference. A smaller village I might confuse with another, but I know I'm in Cherno when I'm in Cherno, if that makes sense to you.
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted December 27, 2014 The reworking of all the buildings is part of the plan for the future. I'm not sure how far this extends but I do believe it involves some new building models.

Electro, Cherno and also Berezino have there own looks. I mostly ment the towns even though I didn't write that in the topic :P
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted December 27, 2014 Yeah, I've been given a link to some free Arma3 tools for world building and the like but I can't make much sense of them. Kinda wished I could just send a google sketchup model to a pile that the Devs can look over and cherry pick.
liquidcactus 719 Posted December 28, 2014 I just want to see those big arse factory buildings to be 5 levels of enterable godliness. The experience of the industrial district is rather drab but if knowing that people could be watching you from those big windows would be something else

Draco122 412 Posted December 29, 2014 In terms of towns and cities, I'd love to encounter more towns or even a city that was bombed out during the first outbreaks, something that says that when the outbreak started that the centralized government tried to qaurantine the rapid spread of the virus. Maybe even some towns or villages where nature has naturally taken it back, houses for example which are covered top to bottom in plants.

Something like that would be awesome to have in the game
Draco122 412 Posted December 29, 2014 Looking at it, I wonder what would be awesome to see in a bombed out city or even one that has experienced alot of destruction. For example, the Cherno plane crash could become so much more interesting if we were able to explore the damaged building. Even more so I could see some buildings even surviving (albiet extremely damaged) in the bombing which offers some unique entry ways and exits as well as travel routes inside. For example one image I picture is three of those high rise apartment blocks, one having toppled over and smashing into it's neighbour building. It's not quite toppled over though and remains at a diagonal slant.
Tely 3 Posted January 31, 2015 I was thinking about paintballs being in game and I got to thinking about how they're placed. Say a store kind of like the grocery store but a bit bigger think,Walmart, cosco style huge store and there are say 3-4 on the map 2 in large cities, one in a smaller but not small city on the coast, and one say the northwest area. These stores could be mostly the same on the outside but internally they're different and not the same each time, think helicopter crash sites, the stores internal layout changes with each server restart. The layout of the store determines the loot. If it was a Cosco it's be mainly food and in bulk, if it was Big 5 It'd be more sporting and spawn tents, bats and a few civ guns, shotgun 1911 and such. I know it's not exactly what you're talking about but it'd add SOMe variety to a town not a lot but some.
