There is something special about Guns in DayZ? what is it?

Recommended Posts

when i look at those videos of those people who somehow find those sexy rifles with scopes etc there is something special about it compared to other games

But I cannot explain it, maybe its the detail in it? the authenticity? the graphics? the point of view? the scarcity? the realism? the wood finish? the metal finish?

what is it? have you seen how epic the reflection on the scopes look? especially when its slightly worn or damaged? the scrapes and cracks etc?

Its still however a shame that you can lose it if you die.

It's not a shame, it's essential.

The gunplay in DayZ is absolutely terrible.  It is in no way realistic.  It is getting better though.

That isn't to say games like COD or Battlefield are better in terms of realism.  But DayZ is no more realistic than them.

Then its probably the scarcity of the weapons that makes it special. Finding the gun then ammo etc then condition of the weapon

COD and Battlefield don't have these stuff I guess.

like an above poster said the gunplay is bad i don't think they act like the guns they are modeled after (yet) but the textures and the design is awesome the attention to detail is amazing on every item. the dev art team is 1st class in my book could you imagine that talent in RPG games as well oh boy gets me excited to think they might do those types of games in the years to come.

Yea it is still atrocious but yes it is getting better.

I still remember the time where guns had huge dispersion

From seeing the guns like the rifles with the scopes the attention to detail in my opinion is world class.

Maybe my eyes are bad? these guns look beyond realistic and detailed.

There isn't really anything above and beyond with the appearance of the items in the game.  They look decent. DayZ will never be successful due to visual appeal.  It is several years behind the curve.

But the game is absolutely gripping for its feel.  It is indescribable to anyone who has never played it.

It's because these are the guns that they use. Mosins are snipers, M4s are for end of game players, shotguns are for if you are weird or haven't found an m4 yet. It goes on and on and on.

Hey, I love shotguns? You won't likely hit me with a mosin before I kill you with my shotgun!

i used to swear by the SKS until I started using the shotgun. 90% of people can't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away (me included) so the shotgun is perfect.

Especially because I tend to play alone and stick to towns.
