I cant seem to open steam on my computer and on my mobile device.

I cant get on it either mate (Europe), I put my password in and it keeps saying connection error. When I click troubleshooting the website is down. Other than steam my connection is fine.

There is something that happens on windows where steam is closed....but if you check task manager there is still a process active that's stopping it from starting when you try. You could check for that but I cant see it effecting your mobile device aswell :s

 

Looks like you are right....I just exited and tried to restart and connection failed message. I have had this before usually connects again within a few mins...(Europe aswell here)

Working fine for me although Steam is down for a lot of people. Day 3 of holiday sales just starting probably isn't helping.

Nothing running RE: Steam in taskmanager, everything else connecting fine. No VPN or peerblocks running

Ok, I started this post and it seams that steam works now, I think it just needed some coffee to wake up after one of its most famous games got viciously attacked last night..

I've been logged in for the past 3 hours (EU as well) and I've had no problems, also have a lot of friends who are still online and a friend who just logged on about an hour ago, all seems to be working fine.

UK here, working fine. Been playing the game most of the night (it's ~9pm local) and I'm able to close and restart the Steam app and view content on it.
