I try and be friendly but its just impossible some people who complain about being kosed are the ones at fault SOMETIMES. I get so many people who run up shouting friendly and thats fine,except they keep running at me lol so im forced to shoot almost everyone i run across lol.

No...you are not "forced" to shoot almost everyone you run across. You choose to. No-one is holding a gun to your head or a knife to your throat, screaming 'KILL THEM OR YOU DIE!". Let us not mince words here.

I do agree with you to an extent. I would like a knock down option from the butt of your rifle for example. Some newspawns get uncomfortably close to you when they want to speak and keep edging closer and I have to tell them to keep their distance as even if I am armed a well timed punch with a knuckle duster will take you down.

With that, I agree. Being able to melee with a longarm would make melee combat much less clunky. A buttstroke can easily kill someone, and we all can guess what mounted bayonets can do...

Funny you should say that, I never thought about it until the deer started making its way back into the forest. Then as the rain started again I thought, "ah, well, I'll grab a shot of me fishing in the pouring rain", only to be met with the message.. you are dead.

 

Ah well that's because we have to share servers with people with little imagination and intelligence. Shooting a person just sitting still is lame beyond compare - especially when they're fishing lol. I wonder if they thought they were boss after they shot you.

 

Personally I would have snuck around and come up from behind and then spoke to you with my gun ready. If I died doing so it would have been a lot more fun of an experience than saying "oh yeah I shot this guy fishing earlier it was awesome" - actually, no it wasn't it was lame. My story would have been leagues apart in awesomeness sauce.

For anyone wondering what is the relevance of all this, poor old dogmeat here went into a hissy fit spiral that left his toys everywhere and his pram empty because I had the temerity to suggest that sniping was too easy in the current DayZ build. He took great umbrage at this, despite at absolutely not point did I question his "mad sniping skills", and it seems he continues to hold a grudge. Posting insults and strawman arguments to boot.

 

You'd think a grown man in his 50's would be able to deal with such a vague comment but it seems not.

 

 

Errr....sniping IS too easy in DayZ and Arma in general - always has been.

Of course your correct, he could just allow them to charge him and knock him out with a lucky punch.  Sorry but I am on his side here, charging head long at someone isn't friendly regardless of you yelling it out.  Now if I am in a forgiving mood I will only take out a leg but otherwise I will leave their broken body and walk away shaking my head...

Except when I hold guns to new spawn's head and scream at them to kill each other or die.
