So finally made my ghillie suit on stable 0.51

So i finally managed to get everything together for my ghillie suit on the stable branch servers, have to say that it was a lot harder to make than on experimental - alot of searching for that netting - finally found some at Berezhki, but what I'm thinking is how many people are actually going to put the effort into making a ghillie? Because it is hard to make, and ever harder to find the parts for it!

 

I know some people think its too rare - as in one piece per server restart makes it rarer than heli crashes - but personnally i like it - makes it feel likek you have actually achieved something when its made and makes you want to protect it! Hopefully vehicles will be as hard to get going and maintain!

 

So, do you think its worth the effort to make the ghillie? it does hide you unbelievably well - (video below)

The Ghillie is seriously cool - But way too difficult make. The only way to make one is to server hop relentlessly until you assemble all the parts. It makes no sense at all to have it this way as it's borderline unobtainable.

 

Congrats to you for putting in what must have been serious time and effort. 

 

But its a ridiculous decision by the dev team to have it this way.

yeah server hopping is one way (we all do it time to time, so no moaning!)

i just joined a high pop russian server and found a stack of 4 of them - delighted!

 

yeah, on the one hand its ridiculous but if it was easy then there wouldn't be the same sense of achievement & everyone would be walking around like chewbacca!

well its still a very early iteration of the truck atm, hopefully when repairing comes in we can have full presistence with it!

Ghillie suits do not make any sense for the average person spending 1 or 2 hours each session on the game... If i start playing, i log in and want to "see" some people, (means shooting at them or talk to them in a friendly manner). What i do not want to do is switch servers every 20 minutes because anyone else already has found the netting on the current server.

Yeah i play the same, log in to interact with other players - even with the ghillie suit on, now i've been sneaking up on players and freaking them out :D

 

Last night i logged in and saw two guys - so i followed them for a while talking to them in direct chat and they could not see me! Eventually, they seemed cool so i stood out and they just wanted to see what i looked like, since they had they're guns on they're back it seemed ok, next thing i know one takes his SKS off his back so i shoot him in the belly and run for it - bullets pinging around and I managed to escape - so cool!

 

Definately changes the way the game is played - have to be more careful since people want to skin you and take your ghillie, fun though!

You mean the only way to make one is to survive for a very long time which can be cheated around by abusing the ridiculously low-cost server switch feature.

If you server hop for something you do not deserve to own it. I really hope to see a fix as soon as possible but I honestly doubt it will happen before Beta or at least before the loot economy went through a couple more iterations.

haha true - i ran the coast on three servers before i found some netting, funnily enough which was on a 50/50 server! still took a few hours to get but worth it!

 

yeah i wouldn't say they'd fix it anytime soon since if they did I'm sure something else would break it later - but I actually like having the loot incredibly sparse, makes foraging and hunting better options!

Yeah! he was agroed on the guy chasing me but still cool since he was so close! really really effective!

 

Might take the ghillie suit apart tonight then and record how to put it together if you wanna see that, easy enough to make - just takes alot of searching for the pieces!

Yupp - one piece of netting per server per restart -

 

So if a server restarts 6 times then there will be 6 nettings on the server so long as no one has picked them up..

I'm sure they'll do something to balance out the gillie at a later stage, makes no sense atm but it's a gillie suit in Dayz so I'm happy :)

And the burlap wrap? You need to cut the sack into strips first, I think it's 2 burlap strips now to make it!

False. I found a "stack" of 3 netting. The limit per server isn't really working right now, as there's always the possibility to encounter the loot respawn bug which makes gear respawn almost endlessly.

 

Anyway, Eugene said between 3 and 6 per server, but you can be lucky and find more.

nope they're on stable now too, VERY hard to find, I haven't come across anyone else in one yet, so its either very few people have them or they're working so well i dont even notice haha, btw the server has to have persistence on!
