Baker. 1484 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Sorry fellas I just used that title to bring you in here. So I just wanted to explore some financial motivation to optimizing the engine a little. Also I can appreciate that Bohemia is already well aware of the points I am about to express. There are most likely a large population of people that would be in a financial situation to purchase he game but at the same time not be able to purchase a rig that can run it well. Having just picked up a mid-range laptop for work, I had to tweak the game settings significantly to have a playable experience. I am admittedly a former member of the "BIS and Dean have taken my money and ran" crowd but it is now easy to see why BIS would be motivated to continue working on and optimizing the game. Every ounce of FPS increase translates into new customers who can purchase and play the DayZ. In addition every ounce of optimization can be then ported over to the PS4 and then the inferior Xbox One. I cannot see why they wouldn't be spending every ounce of their resources to get this game to run on modest hardware. Maybe this is why it appears that development is slow at times, after all 3D modelers generally cannot optimize code. Maybe this is why it "appears" as though all we are getting is new hats and minor improvements in gameplay mechanics. MAYBE we need to peek at whats out back underneath that tarp...... creature 1189 Posted December 6, 2014 It's a game now? I thought it was still just a bunch of stuff tossed together for testing?
svisketyggeren 662 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Its really easy to understand...optimisation comes last. There is no point in optimising the game when ur still adding code to it, u only risk having to go back and fix again what u fixed earlier...use ur brain probaly not relevant to ur post OP, but I immediately went into fanboy modus when I saw the headline Edited December 6, 2014 by svisketyggeren

bobotype3334 160 Posted December 7, 2014 The Xbone is for CoD, Ryse, watching you while you sleep and Madden 2014. Not for something like DayZ
