Shooting Through Walls?

I was up at the NW Airfield earlier today and I spotted a player, so I ran inside of one of the one door shack things and shut the door. He told me to come out and put my gun down or he would kill me. Obviously I didn't comply. The door opens, but there are no players outside of the door, just a wall in front of the door. Out of no where I am dead.

 

TLDR; Can players still shoot through building walls?

 

If he killed me legitimately I wouldn't be irritated, but I don't understand how this happened.

He did kill you legitimately, if it was one of those thin metal sheet shacks, then he killed you by shooting through the wall, simple as that, but you are also able to shoot through doors, so he might of shot through the door and hit you, or there was a way somehow he could see you, meaning the shack you were in wasn't completely closed off. None the less, he shot a bullet, and it hit you! next time that happens, be compliant, say "ok I'm coming out don't shoot" then come out and if and when he says "drop your gun", ya just shoot him. Or you say "is that your friend with the M4 behind you? when he looks, you shoot him. People have tried to mug me not once, not twice, but 12 times! and EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. I killed them. You just gotta know how to trick them, and toy with them. when you talk you have to have confidence, pretend you have 5 friends behind him with m4's strained at him skull, that will ease your tone.

Do the same physics apply to DayZ? Meaning I can get creative and try to kill people with bank shots?

 

I've had people try to shoot me through windows many times with no luck, I always assumed that unbroken walls and windows in DayZ were impervious to bullets going through them.

I believe not. Its rather a very early stage with many bullet-proof surfaces (including some windows). There are ricochets however and some world objects (like bushes) can be penetrated while altering the bullet path.

 

A while back people tested various doors and walls which resulted in "bullet proof". V3S windows can be penetrated while V3S doors cannot (with a shotgun).
