Osprey98 7 Posted November 22, 2014 ive cime across the sks, the repeater, and the ruger 10/22 multiple times and was wondering which one was the best for looting. which one has the best cqc power or mid range power and which one has the most common ammo. Whyherro123 2283 Posted November 22, 2014 Don't listen to the fools who rate guns in "tiers". PvP is more dependent on skill, reaction time, awareness, etc than on firearm. I've gotten FAR more kills with the Blaze 95 rifle than with an M4 or an AKM. The SKS comes in a distant second. Use what you like and you feel comfortable with. SKS: common ammunition, decent range, semi-auto (can't really waste shots, decent in CQB), can mount a decent scopeRepeater: common ammunition with probably the most effective sidearm in the game (.357 magnum), decent range, good firepower.22LR: Probably the best rifle in the game, once you look at it long enough. Sure, the .22LR round won't be 1HK anyone, but they can be found (in 50 ROUND BOXES!) almost everywhere, and with a 30rnd magazine, the Sporter becomes a poor-mans assault rifle. It has good iron sights, and due to it's low recoil, can be spammed like nobodies business.
TheFarm 158 Posted November 22, 2014 I would go with the sks, from what ive seen the mosin ammo is most common of all but the sks 7.62x39 is common enough. The biggest benefit for sks imo is that you can swap it out for an ak once you find one. They share the same ammo.
Osprey98 7 Posted November 22, 2014 every time I had a mosin I died. I was trying to get revenge on the people who killed me with another mosin and I died. I have more experience with the repeater and found it to be very accurate, but most of the people who kill me are 100 feet away or 100 inches away so. these are stop gap rifles until I get an ak again. I cant find sks ammo anywhere novodtrmorske or hat ever its called but I find 357 and 22 all the time in the town hall. I used to find 762 everywhere but idk anymore. I need to find a group. blowurselfup 54 Posted November 22, 2014 Since the repeater was introduced..I would rank this highest because of its mid-range accuracy and the common ammo type. Pick up a .357 magnum to go with it and you will be ready to handle anything out there B) SKS is my second choice for its fire rate and ammo type is fairly common as well
rickyriot 1009 Posted November 22, 2014 If only the repeater could repeat quicker. It is easy to find, as is it's ammo, and while hardly a big hitter it does enough damage to make someone think about it. However if you end up in close(ish) combat of within 50 meters and it's really let down by it's painfully slow action.
pillock 850 Posted November 22, 2014 I'd say the pump-action.

pillock 850 Posted November 22, 2014 Pffft, the bow, hands down. I've only used the bow once. Missed a boar from 10 feet with my first two shots, then my prey ran off. Chucked in the bushes after that and never used it again.
IReadTheAgreement 313 Posted November 22, 2014 I'm waiting for them to nerf the distance of the magnum. Until then who needs a mid range rifle?

-Gews- 7443 Posted November 22, 2014 ive cime across the sks, the repeater, and the ruger 10/22 multiple times and was wondering which one was the best [...] The SKS is easily best of those if you can find ammo... not much to be said... I find more 357 though.
Dagwood 680 Posted November 22, 2014 Pump shotgun is the best "looting weapon". For looting, you don't need to make mid to long range shots. You need a weapon that can save you if someone has the drop on you. Pump shotgun can do that. Suppression capability and one shot lethality make it an easy choice for me.
Maia (DayZ) 93 Posted November 22, 2014 I stick to a magnum or a repeater. Super common ammo and accurate enough. Neither require clips too. I probably have more magnum kills than any primary gun.
Osprey98 7 Posted November 22, 2014 I have a 10 rounder and a 30 rounder for the 22. so is sks better than the repeater? can the .22 keep up with those guns? or should I get a pump action shotty? I killed a zombie from about 100m away with 5 shots from the mp 133. at the same distance the repeater did it in one. im going to test out the ruger when I find a zombie and then the sks when I find ammo. where does 7.62x39 ammo spawn the most besides military locations? If you've got mags for the .22, then use it! It's great. SKS ammo is rare as rockinghorse shit outside of military areas.
Osprey98 7 Posted November 22, 2014 so should I ditch the sks and keep the 22? I see 50 packs all the time for the

But to be honest, if you do find yourself accumulating ammo for it, it's not too hard to find another one. Might as well ditch it if you have a .22 + magazines and ammo. 5mirkeh 98 Posted November 22, 2014 I kinda feel like that guns with internal magazines are the better ones since I do not have to waste time searching for magazines in the first sodding place >_<

By that standard alone, it makes any internal magazine-firearm "better" than any AK or M4.

Evil Minion 943 Posted November 22, 2014 Use what you like and you feel comfortable with.Thats rule number one. The best weapon does not do any good if it conflicts with your playstyle. Still some weapons are simply superior to others so there are certain "tiers". ow I tried to score the available firearms here - and all of the mentioned weapons ended up on the same level. The Repeater is the most accurate of the three and the easiest to get going (no need for magazines and common ammunition) but also has the lowest rate of fire by far. Also the sights are quite bad which limits the effective range. The Sporter is pretty easy to fire, silent and has a lot of very common rounds available. However, you need a magazine for it and the damage is quite low - less important if you manage to find a 30 round magazine and go for the head. The SKS is the most powerful in terms of damage output and sights (as you can mount the PU Scope) but finding ammo is a lot harder and its handling in close quarters isn't the best. Osprey98 7 Posted November 23, 2014 ok so its down to the repeater and the sporter. I have a 10 rounder and a 30 rounder (full) for the sporter but I have 50 rounds for the repeater. how many body shots are needed to kill a player with the sporter 22 or the repeater?
