The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA

What would it be about if u where to make a mod of SA?

I personally would like to see a mod based on realism 100%, thats hardcore and unforgiving. If u die...no new char until next day.

I still have my hopes set for HollywoodZ based on Demon Groovers brilliant mod section.

 

  • All buildings explode when four or more characters exit causing 0 damage.
  • Ammunition is never found or reloaded.
  • All vehicles have a max speed of 88mph.
  • Bandages are never applied as bleeding out is physically impossible.
  • There are over 500 options to escape but you are always 20 seconds short of leaving Chernarus.
  • There is only one zombie on the server that is forced to walk, however he comes back every 15 minutes to chase you regardless of distance covered prior.
  • Every car that escapes your gun shots can be chased down and destroyed by lighting a match to a petrol trail.

Whenever-if ever- they supply us with server files I plan on hosting a server with a day-night cycle that runs at a sped up pace(4 hour resets, the server moves forward 3 hours every restart), modified loot tables to reduce high-end loot, and a death ban system(we're thinking a week or two). And of course 1st person only.

 

The hard part will be trying to find a way to remove current player reporting so you're blind as to how many people you're playing with.

 

but my buddies and I like the game hard, I'm sure not many do, but its their loss.

Your character logs into the server and instantly explodes into a billion pieces. 100% more brutal than your mod. The key would be knowing how to log in right in order to not die. O.o

Hello there

 

I can envision lots of mods.

 

A hardcore Hunting sim.

One of those awful "life" RP games. (awful IMHO but if you like them, then thats groovy)

A wasteland esque version sans Zeds.

 

Arma Armageddon mod would be rather fitting on a DAYZ platform to.

I think his point has merits. A better system would be to disable access to a particular server for a set amount of time. That way one cant get their old gear back through friends and death actually has a major impact even if the server ban is for 15 to 20 minutes.

 

That way they can still play but not on the server of choice. No downtime.

The point is of forums id to discuss things, throw out ideas, bounce them around etc.

 

As to amature development, thats fine. Im not a dev.

 

As to being pathetic, I think you need to relax and step away from the keyboard for a while.

Dinosaurs! That Arma III mod looks awesome.

 

Dinosaurs and zombies, and zombie dinosaurs.

Imagine being chased by a horde of zombies and then a T-Rex shows up, zombies being hungry uncaring fuckers ignore you and engage in an epic battle with the Rex.

Velociraptors stalking people and animals too, a lot more animals generally, tree climbing so you can actually survive outside of buildings.

 

More heavy duty weaponry and ammo but in dangerous places in the wilderness, otherwise standard weaponry, barely enough to fight against dino's.

 

 

I wish Dinosaurs were in more games there's a fantastic game just sitting there but nobody except mod makers really even try since Turok fucked up.

What is pathetic is people that run to their previous characters dead body and get their gear back while their friends camp the body. Want to talk about realism? How about we start right here.

Here is a game mode.

"WalkingDeadZ"

 

General changes

  • Add weapon slings. No magical weapons floating on back.
  • All walls are unbreakable. Bullets can still penetrate (and wound players) to a realistic, reduced level.
  • Global season per shard. Can be checked on website. Alternate summer/fall/winter every week.
  • Military zombies only spawn near military crash sites and bases.

Social changes

  • All items spawn with "Pristine" status and a fixed durability. When durability is depleted the item breaks (i.e. "Ruined").
    • All repair kits repair from "Ruined" to "Damaged" status.
    • Using workshop you can repair all items to "Pristine". All items. This includes vehicle parts and batteries.
  • All players leave 1 km long tracks. 2 km in winter. Can intentionally sweep your trail.
  • Players can see other players inventories but can only drag items into other inventory, not out of it.
    • Extend the range that inventories can be seen when looking through house/vehicle windows to allow safe trading.
  • Every character gets one permanent key per shard.
    • People can take your key.
    • You get a new key on respawn.
  • Placing food into refrigerator in a house binds all door locks to your key.
    • Your friends can put stuff in your fridge to bind their keys to your house. You can do the same to their houses.
    • When you die you have to gain entry to your house again and put new food (from your current character) in the fridge.
    • Food decays at a steady rate while in refrigerator.
  • No one can spawn in a house with bound locks. No one.
  • Zombies automatically spawn nearby when breaking/picking bound locks.
    • Picking locks takes longer (1-5 minutes, shard setting) but spawns only a few zombies.
    • Breaking locks is almost instant but has the chance (50-100%, shard setting) to spawn a horde.

Bounty system

  • Every player can create a faction.
  • Every server has a Governor.
  • The governor always holds the key to the Green Mountain gates.
  • No one can spawn inside of Green Mountain fences except the Governor. No one.
  • To become Governor you must kill the Governor.
    • In other words, the Governor's key automatically binds to all doors in Green Mountain when killing a player with his key bound to Green Mountain.
    • The server admin can also reset the server Governor position once per week. After the reset, the first player to grab the key from the top of Green Mountain tower is the new Governor.
  • The Governor can set universal currency once per week.
  • Players can set bounties.
    • Add a wanted board outside of Green Mountain gates to show a list of all recent players/factions (24 hours) sorted by kills.
    • Use in-game item (e.g. bullets, cigarettes, motorcycle helmets) as currency to place bounty on players or factions.
    • Collect bounties by bringing wanted players (or their head) to the Green Mountain prison cell.
    • Players can use a radio to check if a living or dead player has a bounty. Dead players are worth a quarter of the bounty.
    • The Governor gets a cut of all bounties that are completed (10%). If he turns in a bounty himself, he keeps the whole thing.
  • Global chat is possible from Green Mountain tower.
    • One airdrop can also be called in per day. The Governor can decide if he wants military grade food (e.g. MREs), general resources (clothing,tools,chainsaws) or weapons. Only a few rare items are delivered.
  • Hex player marker with faction icon displayed for known players within 50 meters. (Can be disabled via shard setting or in-game menu.)

That's how things should work.

Dying should not be a minor set back but a reset button requiring you to start over.

This is just my opinion and no offense is intended, but that list just kept getting worse the lower i got. At first i was really liking it, the fixing battery part i didn't like at all though since that's hardly something anyone can just do. But overall the 'General changes' i liked a lot.

 

Then around half-way into the 'social changes' (placing food into refrigerator binds all doors lock to your key lolwutt?) things took a turn for the worst and the rest was just 'please no'

 

But oh well, if that's the type of DayZ you want to play then who am i to say anything?

lol, I've talked to lots of people like the idea of a death=temporary ban system. I think a week or two is best.

 

Obviously you won't be plaing on a server like that, and thats fine.

I face palmed so much while reading this thread. While I think insulting others are childish, some of the ideas suggested by people are outright silly.

We are talking about a game dudes, dying in dayz is already a harsh experience, no need to push it even further unless you want to make 80% of the community hate the game.

Only SOME servers would have these temporary bans. And you would only be banned from that ONE server. There would still be plenty of other servers to choose from should you die.

And if being able to continue playing with your friends after dying is important for you or your group, don't choose to play on one of these servers. Simple as that.

I know the guys I play with would love to at least try this kind of server as a group. Every firefight, every punch from a zombie, and every "oh shit!" moment would be that much more nerve-wracking.

That is why I put the general changes first. I think they are needed in DayZ no matter what.

The other stuff is just a game mode. It doesn't mean everyone is forced to play it. It means it is my personal wishes for a Mod.

I got the fridge idea from Rust. Garry is thinking about adding a cupboard item that blocks all other players from building within 30 meters of it. I thought this might be a way to simulate realistic territory claims like in Walking Dead where people can take over a whole prison without getting too magical.

 

DayZ is still a game and I guess the devs will encourage modding as much as possible. I guess what everyone is looking for is DayZ SA Epoch w/ 1000-vehicle servers and gold traders to help the server admins pay for their ridiculous server fees. Not me.

Subtle but simple changes...

 

True Day/Night transitions.

Add fog as a weather condition.

 

Some variation in the Zeds (walk only and maybe a upper torso crawler types)

Zed packs (3 or 4 that stay in their group)

Small % of Zeds actually found in houses.

 

An addition to the map consisting of a large city (multiple high rise, basement garage, subway station)

Real Zed infested area but high loot risk/reward area.

 

Some areas/houses that can be completely closed/locked. Players can open but Zeds can't.

Not as easy mode as it sounds, its alright locking yourself in but eventually you still have to go hunt for supplies !

 

Traps -

You got a shovel... you can dig a pit (got an axe... you can add spikes) Good against Zeds and enemy players.

Bear traps... Players can open them but still take damage. Zeds are dumb and just stay trapped.

(Claymore - Rare find at military base. One use only AND remember where you put it...lol)

 

Buckets, pots etc can be left outside to collect rain as fresh drinking water. (Not in great amounts and possibility of somebody else stealing it)

 

Lastly... a sleep function.

(Find a bed, sofa or sleeping bag and you can 'sleep' Gives a 10% increase in recovery speed and a 20% reduction in water/food consumption while you are in 'sleep' mode.
