It's all good; I also tend to get a little trigger happy around the crash sites...

I'll probably be back on after the next server reset, so you know where to find me if you want a little PVP fun. I'm keeping my knife nice and sharp to I can make some steaks out of you rascals!

Heads up I killed a hacker named Mr. Boots twice tonight on your server and then he rage quit. (lols) Looks like he was running the basic speed hack and ESP. So if you see him on your server keep an eye out.

I saw him on yesterday, if you have video you can link one of our Admins to we can ban him from the server.  Thanks for the report :)

Now now, don't be all salty with me. I just logged on after the server reset and saw somebody by the chopper and got spooked; I stopped shooting after he ran away. As you said, its no different than when you shot at me the other day in roughly the same spot (yes that was me and I did survive). Isn't that the same type of KOS behavior that you're complaining about?? How was I to know that was him and not you??? It always perplexes me when people shoot at others in a PVP game and then complain when it happens to them.

When I ran into Adic, he specifically said that I should leave because you guys would shoot me on sight. Somebody did shoot at me and hit me in the back as I was departing, but did you hear me complain? He was very nice not to shoot me in the face right away, but I don't believe that shooting me in the back as I run away was very nice.

As for the logging, I can assure you it wasn't a "cheap tactic". I have a crappy PC and unfortunately sometimes DAYZ crashes and requires me to reboot. I'm not sure how logging in the middle of a field would give me an advantage; perhaps you know secret logging tricks that I'm unaware of....

However, I do love me some PVP; really gets the blood flowing. As much as I enjoy the friendly interactions, there's no beating a good firefight. I look forward to seeing you out in the fields :P

Before I scroll down, I appreciate the clarity Big Daddy.. btw, I used to play a hell of a lot of Socom with a Big Daddy back in the day in a clan called The Beer Clan [bER]. Anyhow, what Pun is pointing out, and now we know what happened is only the logging. The shooting thing, we all know it happens and knowing Pun I know he doesnt care about that. The logging out though, especially combat logging is something we all should frown heavily upon. We all understand crashes, but you have to understand how it looked on our end. I hope you can, and not hold it against us. What we have done, several times in your position is LOG right back in.. usually to a YOU ARE DEAD screen. But we still do it, for the sake of not looking like combat loggers and also for just doing whats right for the game. Now if you have to log out, and absolutely cant come back.. so be it, but just drop a line here if you care, saying why it had to happen like that. People will understand, and no one has to look like an ass or apologize for accusations that are in the end, false.

So all is well that ends well.. just understand why Pun is saying what he is saying, thats all.

He was speed hacking and using ESP and you killed him twice?

Does anyone else think to themselves, now how could a hacker with ESP be THAT bad?  :|

..It could be desync you know. Seems odd that someone would use only the speedhack and esp and allow themselves to get killed by the same guy twice in one night. The hacks nowdays, most if not all have other features that would allow him to control your actions.. why he didnt do that, in the end, is beyond me. So I would first guess desync unless it was completely clear what he was doing.

Let us know more please.

BTW, Server #2 already broke the top 1,000. From 1,698 to 958 in a few days. :)

If you're questioning my sanity look at my account creation date, I've been playing since the very earliest days of the original mod and have over 1500 hours logged. I know a hacker when I see one. I killed a Mr. Boots in Vybor and 5 minutes later he shows up speeding in circles around us in the middle of nowhere near Myshkino with only a MP-133 shotgun 9 rounds and the basic freshspawn t-shirt and jeans (which concludes that he did not get the debug Vybor spawn since players that get that location spawn in without the flashlight jeans and tshirt). I hit him with my double barrel shotgun and killed him he then left the server.

I mean I don't really care if he gets banned I can always switch servers if I see him on but I figured I'd do a courtesy and let you guys know.

We appreciate the heads up.

We just need to question every claim that's made.

Otherwise, we'd be a bunch of ignorant, assumptive, & submissive admins.

I never looked at it that way, but I can appreciate now how you guys may have been upset with me. I'll keep this in mind in the future. I continue running into issues with my mouse not working while in inventory and the game crashing all together (especially after 0.52), so bear with me. I'm no longer on vacation, so I probably won't be back on until later in the week. My apologies for the misunderstanding; won't happen again.

The loot trail.

Yesterday I logged in as a fresh spawn, I must have been killed by a zombie when logging.  I had a lot of cool gear but that's how it goes.  I spawned in between the tracks and Novo so  ran down, got hydrated and headed to Severograd.  I knew it was about 30 minutes to the restart and I wanted to hit the police station and fire station there.  Along the way I found an assault vest, back pack and sledge hammer.  Ran into the police station and gathered the food and drinks.  Went out back and found a 15 round MP5 mag, hit the fire station and there was an MP5 upstairs!!!

After server reset I make the same path all over finding a can opener, SKS, ammo 2 pristine protector cases and TTSKO pants (yes the gods were smiling).  Head to NWAF where I get the rest of the gear I need along with finding a couple of AKM mags at a MI8 chopper crash.  Make the run to all the military bases and leave with 2 high caps as well as drum mags.  In less than 3 hours I was totally geared for anything!

Logged in this morning for an hour and found another chopper crash and traded my AKM for an M4.  The point is I was a total fresh spawn and in less than 4 hours I have all the premium gear anyone could ask for.  Join our server and if you know what you're doing you'll be just as geared and ready to fight or survive, your choice!

Thats all very easy when no one is ever on the server anymore. Once FOG 1 got cut and #2 was the only one, I haven't seen more than 14 people active in a while. That and persistence is off so of course you can get geared easily, along with your 2-hour loot refresh, I mean server restart.

That is exactly the point I'm trying to make!  Many people think that starting off as a fresh spawn is hard and they'll have a hard time getting geared.  What I'm pointing out is how EASY it is to get geared in hopes more people will come and join

I think you'd get more people if you tried to be different instead of catering to the same group that every other server out there is doing. "Easy" servers are a dime a dozen, the main group of players are looking for a harder experience, something that will actually challenge them instead of turning the game into a non-stop pvp experience where there is no penalty in death. Where is the challenge when if you get into a PvP engagement and you die, within less than an hour you can be back at that location or looking for another fight with gear to cause damage. Turn persistence on, ignore the fact that maybe helicopters may not work correctly but so what if you don't get a silencer or SMERSH vest, you will get that harder loot gearing experience.

I think the problem is that 1) its a private hive, and 2) its on "easy" mode that the server won't be full. If people can get the same easy experience from every other server on the public hive, what will make them want to start fresh and have a separate character all together on something that won't allow them to hop around.

Ninja Edit: The main reason my group of friends went to your server and hive in the first place back when FOG #1 was started was because of persistence and the lack of hackers. Over the course of playing there the reasons we joined have been removed. We are encountering more hackers and now persistence has been removed.

Ninja Edit #2: Go back to your original way of doing it by shutting off persistence for one day a week to allow for those helicopter hunters to get their fix but keep persistence on the other days so the game doesn't just feel like easy mode.

Joined the server on a whim a few days ago, wanted to test out the non-persistence. Server ran exceedingly well compared to others and had a swell time enjoying a smooth Dayz experience. Quite amazing how much nicer the game is when you can interact with an item and know that it will respond immediately.

Also worth mentioning... RESTARTS WITH ACTUAL WARNINGS!!!  If I had a can of beans for every server that claims to do that I'd never have to leave my bush in the wilderness.

Special mention to Mr. (Benny)? I got the sense that he was on the coast just to help new spawns. Had the drop on me and handled the initial interaction so well I knew he could be trusted right away. Those sardines helped me immensely.

You now have +3 players on the FOG server. Just three guys looking to be dudes like men with some chum-pals. With no persistence I can't make muh pumpkin farm, any suggestions for a gregarious group of three to keep themselves occupied after achieving survival?

While I respect your opinion our experience shows different.  We tried to make persistence work, the server performance was horrible with frequent crashing.  In addition to the frequent crashing we experienced random wipes of the loot on the server, these were in addition to the scheduled wipes on Wednesday.  These issues rendered persistence useless and left the fresh spawns little chance to make it somewhere on the map where they could survive.

Once we turned persistence off our population was very often maxed out on FOG 1.  The reason we switched from FOG 1 was because our server rented from Vilayer was taking up to 30 minutes to reset.  We would see our server full and upon coming back up from the reset it would have very few people in it.

We do appreciate the feed back and if several people post up in this thread that they would prefer persistence on we'll give it another chance.  Our group was very excited when persistence was announced but until it's improved upon I don't see a reason to have it on.

If persistence being turned off is what made FOG #1 so great then why didn't those same maxed out regulars follow over to FOG #2 once you had announced the termination of the ViLayer rented server?

I think

easy mode.

Rent your own server.

See how easy it is.. rather than telling others how they are doing things incorrectly, and complaining.. make your own way. Seriously.. what do you care?

Why open an account to complain? Your only 3 comments are telling us why you dont like the new server. How about, you know.. go away. Like far, far away. Because if you actually knew what you were talking about you would know you are grossly incorrect in about 99% of your assumptions. You really are.. and I could give zero fucks enough to correct you. I think Pun is being far too respectful for the tone you brought into this conversation.. and I hope you realize that. I on the other hand feel like you need to be put in your place. Because as a guest, you are being quite rude.. rather than constructive. That condescension may have slipped past others in your initial statement.. but I got slapped in the face with it. So, walk away. Please.

No doubt. It took me 40 minutes to have miltary clothes and a Mosin, LRS, and all the ammo I think possible to hurl downrange at you guys. Now I just have to synch up our time zones to get on when there's action to be had!

Beyond that, when I can spend 30-40 minutes an be ready for war, I am not so shy about engaging in combat / fun. The rest of the game is still there though... I almost did freeze to death Saturday night.

yeah.. I like it just like barren persistent servers. Each has their own draw to it.. the way our server is and has been for a while is more like DayZero, where its highly pvp focused and loot is not that difficult to come by. Sidenote, our server just seems like a loot haven even with persistence off. I mean Ive found everything on it, and rather easily. Back to topic, its fun gearing up and going to war and knowing where to find the action and having regearing not be such a pain in the ass. But its not for everyone, nor is it something I would recommend doing all the time without variation. I love to hop into servers and mess around from time to time. Love the challenge of barren persistent servers with almost zero loot. Love the game. Glad you are enjoying yourself on our server.. and I hear you on the freezing thing. I often get so caught up in the fight on our server that I forget to eat, drink and whatnot lately. Which leaves me freezing, starving and seeing grey for long periods of time. Pisses me right the hell off.. but I love it! :)

You mean those fights/wars where your clan keeps getting outmatched? Thats the only reason my group keeps coming back to FOG at this point. Even in subpar gear we just figure its easier to gear up by defeating your clan. And before you try to refute my point you all know in your hearts and minds how many times you've been defeated at the Vybor military base by us. And as for telling me to rent my own server instead of offering my opinions towards why yours is empty, allow me to reply with insisting you continue to pay for an empty server.

Really? Really? This is just getting silly. Really? You're taking this way too seriously! You should go put that on your resume and see if it gets you any further than it's going to in this conversation. Damn, the ultimate DayZ comando squad has arrived. I better watch my beans from now on.

Not taking anything "too seriously", was just explaining that at this point the only reason we play is to get satisfaction from killing the admins and hiding their SMERSH vests. Not saying we're good, just not saying FOG is either.
