Deeper, richer, dead body experience.. Can we have this?

I like the talk of eventually dragging bodies and wounded.. but the current system we have once someone is downed, or killed is rather bland and uninteresting. Im sure plans are potentially in place to expand on it, but in case its been overlooked I'd like to propose some ideas on how things could eventually be with dead bodies making the experience much more enjoyable. 

 

When someone dies, their body should stay there until its buried or the server restarts. Performance issues may keep this from ever happening, but perhaps in the least we can expand the time limit until the clean up happens allowing the bodies to stay as long as possible. While they are present in game, it should state the player name.. never unknown entity. It should state the temp. and be accurate, as well as a detailed explanation of how they died. Like "Player Trevor is cold to the touch and has died from.. Gunshot wounds, an apparent infected attack, stab wounds, dismemberment, etc.. "

 

I think it would be really interesting to go around finding the dead, and sort of learning the tale of what happened to them based on their location, how they died, loot they had, etc.. In fact, some could find this being the way they play the game.. like CSI for dayz or a tracker.. bandit hunting clans, etc. I think it could be a really good addition, what do you think?

It's coming.  Rest assured, we will be able to drag our wounded friends back into cover and build zombie-corpse barricades eventually.

Nice idea, but I think instead of text telling you what happened, it could be actual art details. Such as gunshot wound decals, cuts decal, zombie scratches decals on the body, etc. Perhaps even blood puddles/blood splats decals on the floor and wall.

Good suggestion though, I like it.

Good suggestion though, I like it.

 

Needs both if possible... Id love to see blood all over the walls after a chainsaw murder. 

 

Or people torn to shreds by Zeds, with limbs and blood all over the floor. 

 

As well as the text if you scroll telling you what happened.. the body temp could be the way you tell how long ago it happened, once you learn how it works.. make that thermometer more useful ;)

Hell to the YES. I'm glad I did a search because I was about to post a fresh topic on this. 

We need this. I remember encountering dead bodies in the mod and as soon as i seen one a slight chill would run my spine.. especially if there was more than one in the area.. the flies buzzing sound was way to loud and over the top but it still worked for me.. now if we could have this and a bit more say "decay" art on the body that would be unreal.. considering what dayz is I would say there should be some good emphasis on this.. hopefully.

 

You see, I assumed they(dead bodies) should be cleared at a server restart. Since now we have this persistent loot why cant we have the bodies last say 2-3 resets ? Why that long you ask ? for a basic decaying process of the body to take place(3 stages?) but even then just a single basic stage of decay would be fine to let players now the body has been there for atleast a few hrs. Some months back I never thought I would see the day that all items are persistent because I thought that would defeat the purpose of tents and murder server performance but here we are.. So what I am saying is how much more demanding could it really be on the server performance ?

 

MORE DEAD BODIES CACTUS SAIS YESSSS !

Persistent dead bodies is a great idea, and maybe, devs, after a restart, the body will turn into a static item in the landscape as it looks decayed like its been there a while.
