Killed by zombies while waiting to connect

I think the 60 seconds wait time to join the server is absolute BS. In that 60 seconds I was attacked, knocked out and killed by zombies! Like what the actual hell? I can't even see or move my character yet, but zombies can kill me?

On top of that, all my gear dissapeared! My friend went to collect my loot only to find that most of it was gone.

It was only him, myself and one other person on the server. I def could not have been killed by the other player, my friend would have seen or heard him!

Are you talking about the wait timing upon trying to change servers? You're not visible and vulnerable that whole time, but you are visible and vulnerable for up to a few seconds when you're actually being logged into the server. It's super critical to camp somewhere safe. If the server restarts and you're in a bad spot like the middle of a town street where zombies are likely to be when you log back in, well, that's just bad luck at this point. Again, you're unlikely to get hit by a zombie before you're fully logged in and can move - that would be extremely bad karma.

That 60 sec wait time only happens if you leave a server and rapidly try to rejoin a different one, ie serverhop.

Pretty much this but it can ALSO happen if you forget what EXACT server you were on. Sometimes doing the a history search can get you on the wrong server to lol. Unless you favor the server than its really hard to find it again.

Yeah as everyone here said you don't spawn in until near the end of the timer. But this has happened to me I logged in to find a zombie was hitting me ruining all my gear and I went unconscious lmao!

That's so unfair in the case of a server restarting/crashing without warning. There's literally nothing that can be done to save you're life.

As someone with an ok computer but terrible bandwidth, it takes about 2-5 minutes to log in, sitting on the "please wait" screen.

I too have had zombies find me in however long the time is that you stand there and start beating into me before I could move which very very almost killed me before I was able to defend myself. More than half my stuff had been ruined but I was alive.

 

So I still think that it's unfair. You should only appear in-game in the same moment that you are given control. Not before.

It is also triggered when you drop out because of terrible internet.

yes and no. i thought the same until i logged in and was "my leg in pain, my leg is very painful, i think my leg is broken, you are dead". message flying up screen, on ground

 

some servers the response time between please wait and actually playing. differs. some servers ive waited up to 2 minutes. others 10 seconds.

That is the "heart attack feature". It can happen in random places with no reason at all, and it takes seconds to kill you. Even when the "please wait" screen is long, you still appear about 5 secs before you can play. Verified this when playing with a friend.

I seen my mate appear and it was a lot longer than 5 seconds before he had control. Even if it is 5 seconds, why are you vulnerable at all. It's bullshit to be affected by the game when you're not playing the game. Come release day when your server crashes in the middle of a city and you spawn back in but only now, there's 500 zombies in the city and 50 of them have seen you spawn, you think you'll even last 2 seconds?

Also happens when you join a server and a Badmin decides to kick you, now you have a nice 60 second timer

And I've spawned in bleeding while zombies were attacking me before though I've never died from spawning in
