Why does my screen flash a light shade of blue when getting shot at? (Not trolling, I'm legitimately curious)

Hey, DayZ Forums,

 

I'm new to the forums and apologize if this is the wrong area to be posting this question in.

 

My question was, whenever I get shot at, if the bullet is relatively close to my head, the screen flashes blue for a second.

What is this and what does it mean? I asked my friend Gabe, and he said it's something called "Supression", which I

looked up, and only found one forum post about how BF3 doesn't pull off supression well.

 

Does it mean your character is getting scared?

I don't have a video recorded at the moment, b/c it's rare that I ever come across a sniper.

As far as how blue, it's a very dry blue, like this.

Looks normal to me, I'm not seeing a blue effect persay, maybe I am color blind.  Just looks like the normal effect of a bullet screaming past your skull which as you stated would be your character being suppressed by proximity fire.

I don't know how to really explain this too well, but once I saw (Keep in mind this was on the internet and could easily be false) that only certain shades/colors were visible to certain people. It gave 3 images in this article, each displaying a different number in one of these peculiar shades or whatever, and only some people could see a certain one. Maybe this or something similar is the case in your mysterious blue?

It happens just before you hear the "ptchooo" ricochet noise, like it's whizzing by your head. It's also when Brad is hiding behind the supermarket's left wall, bullets from the apartment's behind are being shot at Brad. It's the most subtle thing though. Make sure to watch in HD to see it clearly.

I understand that, it's just, it's an effect of the game, and can be seen by anyone if they look hard enough.

I've made a gif of that little part. All I notice is that little gray-ish overlay that happens when you're shot at, but as far as I know, that's normal?

That's what I'm talking about, though. When he got shot at, it flashed a grayish-blue.

 

As far as I know, whenever I get shot at, it does the same thing, I think it's the guy getting scared, but it doesn't have any negative effects, like the gun shaking, or excessive breathing, etc.

I've noticed my inventory has a slightly blue tinge to it. I can't remember what patch it started after, but I've noticed it ever since. I'll see if I can grab a screen of it.

 

It doesn't affect anything on my end. It doesn't really bother me either...but I've noticed a slight 'blueness' also.

i think thats from your stuff being wet.

Seems to be either shock damage, had this happen when my friend is fireing a shotgun close to me very often.

 

It could also be some kind of suppression effect for bullets hitting close to you.

 

It could also be a hit on you that didnt penetrate your gear inflicting shock damage.

 

 

It seems intentional, even if not consistent yet.

The effect could be a left over from the Arma. In Arma gun also started to shake and there was some excessive breathing.

I've had odd blue colors show up on items in my inventory but other than the lighting going nuts at times when I'm inside (which I don't seem to see in other peoples videos) I haven't run into anything like this.
