doctorbadsign 645 Posted October 10, 2014 In reality every house would have tins/cans of food, fluid as well. Every garage would have tools you could use as weapons. There would be bicycles/skates/skateboards at virtually every house. I could go on but ill leave it to the rest of you for now. Oh wait lets run for hours cos there is no gasoline. If gas ran out tomorow id jump on my bicycle and outride any zombie even if i had no tires. Bedtime for me but people need to think before they use the word realism or realistic. It's more the community that are obsessed with DayZ being realistic. I think realism should always come second to gameplay and balance and stuff like that. This thankfully seems to be the approach that they are taking.
SNPxASSASSIN 6 Posted October 11, 2014 And every military facility would have M16's and full cammies. Oh... wait a second.... it's still in alpha and the loot spawns are still being worked out and items are still being added in? OH NO WHATEVER WILL WE DO! Scarcifer 102 Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) There's a big gap between realism and authentic. I Feel the current model design is leaning the right way towards it's authenticity in many aspects of a survival simulation post apocalyptic genre. The only way games will ever have "Realism" is when VR advances way ahead, when you could actually be able to be in a game.... Please elaborate and define your definition of realism. Because if your talking about the world textures etc. it's still an early build and is not even technically a game. At least not yet, it is just a model or frame of the core aspects of one getting slowly pieced together.Yes it has a long way to go, but eventually it will be finished an actual game. I'm sure after a 1.0 version is released the actually game then will still get patches with extra content i'm sure. Besides them working on different aspects an the next big thing environment wise in day z. If they have any common sense the will completely change the next map to a completely different styled condition.Like for example what i mentioned in the forum about Dlc. Now I'm getting off topic... Please enlighten me and the forum with a dignified response. That will give the community census. Just like people say certain things are broken at times, but what if follow me here since it is alpha and exp servers maybe.Just maybe their only wanting to test certain items and configurations at certain times to get specific data. Hence experimental, experimenting on configurations on how things work . Yes certain bugs slip here and there through the mass pressure to rush progress the community bestows upon the team. That is why this is alpha testing it is OUR job to participate and provide data and input about our findings as well as them getting theirs. It is how proper communication is made and how things are done right. Instead of having a closed testing to Employees they gave us the chance to sign on board and be part of the creation of this epic world until and after it reaches the the status of being an actual game or in my eyes a Utopia of Apocalyptic madness with survival of the fittest. What i enjoy most about this game is it matters primarily on pure cunning skill(And spawn ratio factors) unless you come across a low life hacker.Survival is suppose to be rough and they need numbers to crunch to make statistics to get formidable conclusive data to go off of. It will adjust as progress goes in the game remember we as a community are partaking on testing to get results; With so many people it should give a reasonable census. Depending on progress because remember when you write and attach code to others there is always a chance something might break some where along that line. This might not always be apparent at first and/or may occur under certain conditions to trigger the defect. Edited October 11, 2014 by Scarcifer

jlquigley 1 Posted October 13, 2014 I don't really have much of a complaint but more so ideas. It would be interesting not to start out completely butt naked with a flashlight. If we want to do go along the lines of a realistic factor without taking away too much of the challenge, we should instead spawn with a jacket (because it's always bloody cold), small backpack, a can of beans, water bottle, baseball bat and a flashlight. To me, that's how most people would be wandering around post-apocalypse. It's not giving us the world, but it definitely gives you a better head start than being cold and on the verge of starvation ^_^ Just a thought. There were a couple of times when I spawned in a place full of zombies and picked clean of food (even in so called high loot servers). Yeah... I died of starvation and hypothermia. Other times I got really lucky and got suited up quick. That also makes me wonder... is there a bug with weapons and fighting zombies? There are times I'll be swinging at a zombie's head with an axe and it will miss every time, yet this guy can be facing away from and still beat my arse. If I had to complain about something, it would be that.
ChainReactor 922 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Other times I got really lucky and got suited up quick. And didn't that feel really good? The feeling you really got a character going now to face the adventures of Chernarus? Your suggestion actually makes this normal and nothing exciting. Learning stuff the hard way is - at least in my opinion - one factor that provides the thrill of DayZ. I pulled some characters off the edge of starvation and those were actually pretty statisfying to me, even if they did not make it that far in the end. I pulled some characters off the edge of starvation and those were actually pretty statisfying to me, even if they did not make it that far in the end. I really can't agree with that statement as nothing is normal or dull about a zombie apocalypse. Although, the rate at which hunger develops and how quickly articles of clothing/weapons deteriorate; a can of beans, bottle of water (1/4 full), jacket, and a baseball bat won't last long if not for the first 5-10 minutes (assuming that none of the items are in pristine conditions) All it does is provide a slight buffer for those instances when you're in those looted towns far from the major cities. So you'll still have your chance to come back from being a starving popsicle. And to answer your question, it didn't really feel good waking up in a pile of loot. I like the excitement of trying to hunt around, but I don't like the idea of waking up on the verge of death either.
byrgesen 1341 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Ive found outside unplayable... too much lag and server resets :( Like this?? plus looting is disabled In fact it isnt, but its considered cheating and you will get a ban! :) @TopicI would like the OP to find the exact place on the internet where it says DayZ is all about being as realistic as possible???I havent found it yet, thats why im asking. If anything, the game strives more for authenticity then realism imho, but at the end of the day its a game and sometimes it just doesnt make sense, for the sake of having fun.Like others have mentioned, a super realistic game would not get a whole lot of attention, as you can open your front door and "play it" without ever turning on your computer.
