    Actually, the Devs released the alpha so that way the community COULD give feedback and suggestions and help with the development of the game, if you read the dev blog you'd notice their currently working in the direction of player interest, things like spawns and the balancing of zombies. If they wanted to completely control the way the game was made there would be no suggestions forum and the Standalone probably wouldn't currently be released.

    I actually do code and no offense was taken, I din't mean literally change the whole nighttime element to a 5 yeard range i'm talking REDUCE the values the gamma can be adjusted to that way people who for some reason NEED to change their gamma can do so and the people who take advantage of the system still can but it will be to a reduced effect i've coded quite a few HUD's so if I can change the range of values on a slider im sure the dev team can too.

    I get the decision the dev's made and i do get the fact that it should always be a guessing game as it would be irl. But really though I was thinking of a way to reward heroes for being good to maybe encourage less banditing in the game because as of now it's essentially a team death match.
  5. Just a quick suggestion, add a way to symbolize yourself as a hero or a bandit rather than just saying so, it might add a bit more trustability to the game and etc. Comment your ideas on how to implement this :)

    I've noticed the way the mosin's scope sways so drastically it's almost impossible to get a good shot from more then a couple hundred meters away with out standing up and walking forward. The truth is there is a mosin bipod out there so I don't see why we can no longer atleast shoot from a stable position in prone.

    Look I understand the point of "I raise my gamma setting because the nights are pitch black" and I do agree, they are, and I do believe that there should be a bit of moonlight in the sky or maybe they should make the gamma adjuster not be able to go as high? Either way I just believe it ruins the immersion of DayZ and leviath, it's not that I don't get that some things just aren't fair but the fact that you can give yourself nv with the click of a button would basically be the same as me spawning in some nv's with hacks on the mod. I don't intend to put myself at a huge disadvantage just because people adjust thier gamma as they please. And you can easily calibrate your screen on your gfx control panel and adjust the brightness, gamma, etc.

    We all know that when it's nightime we turn our gamma up and then we magically have nightvision. If you say you don't do that your most likely lying lol. The fact is it ruins the immersion of the night when you have nightvision at the ready whenever it's needed, I would use the many lightsources found in game but whats the point? It just makes me a HUGE target for other players who just turn their gamma up. Now i'm not saying there shouldn't be a method of night vision in the game, however I am saying that you should have to find a set of nightvision goggles before you have nightvision. To the people that are about to post some excuse about how their monitor won't display right unless the gamma is absolutely maxed then that's just a straight up lie and we both know it. Honestly, this fix would take maybe 20 minutes to do and then the game would be so much more immersive.

    And every military facility would have M16's and full cammies. Oh... wait a second.... it's still in alpha and the loot spawns are still being worked out and items are still being added in? OH NO WHATEVER WILL WE DO!

    how does the rangefinder work?

    The rangefinder, while currently broken, would work by sending some kind of a sensor out towards the pointed object to return a number, I think it may be broken due to something in the model itself blocking the laser-type sensor from getting anywhere or as you mentioned no variables are appearing, i'm sure it's a HUD problem of some kind. This might be fixed soon though.

    Suggestion: Bird Warnings, and the science behind it!

    Very well made and a great idea! However, I notice all of these little changes or very time consuming projects that really don't need focus right now but definitely do later on. For example the dev team is adding in a Steyr AUG and a Derringer lever-action rifle to the game. But do we REALLY need that at this point? Zombies are still walking through walls and through floors, hitting you form miles away, loot is unbalanced, melee combat is bad, etc. I think that yes this is definitely an idea that would be amazing and I commend you on it but this is something I think should be added later on.

    No no, you guys don't get the concept, i'm saying once you log off the SPECIFIC server as soon as you try to connect it would say something like "Confirmation of changes: you have 29min 50sec before you can rejoin this server", obviously if you need 30 minutes to loot then I don't know what your doing but you get the concept (You would be able to play other servers in the mean time just not that one SPECIFIC server). And no he didn't get the drop on me and my two friends. I'm going to say EXACTLY what happened so you guys know. My friend was at the bottom of the tower looting and suddenly a guy with an AK spawned right next to him under the stairs he miraculously took the guy out. We all took a deep breath and said good job man. I went back upstairs to loot a bit more after checking the enemy's body, we didn't loot it just yet. My friend was applying morphine as another guy with an AK spawned under the stairs and shot him dead. I ran to the very top of the tower and hid there waiting for him to come up the ladder. My other friend had just reached the tower and was waiting outside (The only other exit) and I suddenly saw the enemy outside, I shot him with my makarov and hit him atleast three times so I said "He's lit wait out there and see if he moves" I then heard someone moving up the ladder and by the time my friend could check he was already up. So we knew he was in the tower so after 5 minutes we heard his inaudible talking so I didn't respond. I then proceeded to clear the top floor while my friend cleared the bottom and we met in the middle. He wasn't there and obviously combat logged. So we proceeded to loot but my leg was broken because I climbed down the ladder so that's why it took so long for us by the way. So whilst I was waiting for my friend to make a splint I was looting a bit and I got shot in the back. My friend searched ALL of balota and around it and didn't see anyone. He went to go grab some essential stuff and not 30 seconds into looting a guy spawned under the stairs and sprayed him down. So now you all know exactly what happened and how this suggestion could really benefit DayZ and stop people "Ghosting".

    So me and three of my friends just ran to balota, we were in the control tower and 2 guys with ak's (Obviously people who hop from server to server)were hiding under the stairs, we killed one and whilst we were looting one friend got shot, all of you are probably like "Dude shut the fuck up and stop complaining you died the end." However, his friend logged off moved position, killed me, logged off moved position, and killed my other friend. To me this is basically at the same level of hacking as your exploiting the game so I think a good thing to add in would be you may not join the same server again after you leave for 10 - 30 minutes to give ample time for looting.

Guys, listen, some things I said were misunderstood so i'm going to clarify, NO I don't find it hard AT ALL to kill zombies as long as I have an axe, stun baton etc. however, that was the situation where I went into the firestation and there was only crowbars, I looked elsewhere... only crowbars... NO I don't think that the graphic designers should drop production on their work as they are obviously under-qualified for the job, you knew what I meant and still spoke for the sake of being heard, if you can't be constructive don't be destructive. NO I wasn't fighting multiple zombies, it was one zombie, and NO I didn't mean it's impossible to get a headshot with a melee but since the recent patch i've noticed it's grown much harder to do so and i'm stating the fact that if i was to walk up to one of you with a crowbar i'm pretty sure i'd be able to swing it and hit you in the head... so why can't I in DayZ? And what do I mean by the zombies are broken? Walking through doors (That seems like a major problem that needs fixing doesn't it Exorade, who knows maybe the graphic designers will get right on that ROFL) also when you dodge the zombies attacks and the still hit you (That seems like a hitbox problem that I was SURE they fixed. No it's not lag, theres no hit lag for me against zombies or other players, no lag picking up items etc.) I hope this clarified the issue enough so people don't just keep thinking i'm raging because i'm bad at the game... regaurdless if anyone has anything to say PLEASE SAY IT :)
  15. So i'm starting this topic in regards to... well... Fresh Spawns and maybe even bambies everywhere... So I got home from school and decided "Hey i'm going to play DayZ and even though a zombie jumped through a wall, broke my leg, and then didn't allow me to hit it" so I did, I happened to spawn in churno and 1... ONE zombie was my demise.... How? Well my immediate instinct was "Run to the firestation and find a fireaxe" well... I didn't find one, however I did find a crowbar so I just thought "Hey I remember using this before, a couple of hits in the head should do it" well, that wasnt the case, in fact since the new .49 patch where they "Improved the hitboxes and melee combat" I havent been able to hit a zombie in the head since so I wound up having to hit it in the chest with a crowbar over and over again until I died... doesn't something seem wrong with that? The strafe left worked half the time and the other half the zombie would lunge and hit me anyways. I hit the zombie atleast 35 - 40 times with no avail. I would've hid in a house and bandaged but they still walk through doors... I thought for sure the new Navmesh rocket talked about and how it would "Revolutionize zombies" would've fixed that, mind you this was posted in may... yes... may. If this was of any concern to them im sure they could've added collision barriers to doors by now, 5 months later. I think they should immediately drop ALL production on misc. items (Backpacks, Clothing, Guns, etc.) and work on the core gameplay. That's how development works, I realize that they need to add entertainment value to the game since it is an open alpha, but I think good zombies with good hit registration and wall detection would make the game so much better, however, I would also like to suggest they add more power to the melee weapons because unless you find and axe or a pickaxe your going to die if you come into contact with 2 or more zombies 90% of the time, lets face it. Please any supporters comment saying you agree and maybe we can get the main point of the game to a finished state, I think that would be the absolute best decision to make right now because who wants to run around in a game where you can't kill one zombie with a crowbar considering the fact that there are so many of them in game!
