Localised Zombie abundance and rewards of cosmetic items.

Anyways if i am dredging up an old issue or beating a dead horse i applogise.

As a new player I made this post on reddit describing my first week of play and the frustrations I had encountered:
http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2i400n/new_player_first_impressions_probably_another_one/
The core of the message being "People keep killing me for no reason as soon as they see me, I don't want to play CoD and spend all day just killing them back, it's getting boring, i quit."

Reading through, replying to, and reading the replies in the comments, the cause of this behaviour is very apprent, i'll quote this one comentor who puts it best:

"Let's not beat around the bush, and be frank with ourselves. There just,is not enough content atm to keep players occupied thus they resort in PVP.Because the aspect of the survival neeeds are met preety easily, players try to find consort on social interactions. Anything else becomes repetative, preety fast. Imo an end game goal would be a very refreshing and welcome change in the player-base attidute."

Indeed idle hands make the devils work. One thing i noticed after learning how to deal with Zs i now barely pay them any attention, which is a shame because i mean they are in the title of the game.

Making Z's stronger/meaner/smarter however i don't think is the answer. I think the devs actually have done pretty well balancing them as for new spawns with a pitch fork or hammer.

The solution then might be to make certain large cities and facilities just spawn loads more Zs than normal. New players can avoid these at first by simply not going to these places, geared up players can have more fun by going to these places and taking on waves of left for dead sized hordes. The cities could contain a reward of more unique/rare loot. Giving players something to aim for rather than sitting in a tower and shooting new spawns all day on the beach.

The bigger the city the larger the spawns but the more special the items.

The loot in these locations doesn't even have to be better necessarily but could be cosmetic. Unique and cool looking helmets or masks which would mark them out as a expert zombie slayer to others. It would also result it characters being more important to players. It works in TF2 after all.

Long time players would have somthing to work towards.
New players would have a better early game experince.

I've read interviews from the devs stating that at one time they wanted around 3000 zeds or so which would be AWESOME. I agree the nastier the better.as for folks killing each other it doesn't matter dayz epoch has base building and all that and folks just blow up your hard work a laugh at you while doing it unfortunately no matter how much content they add some dickface is still gonna try and kill you for your shoe laces or for lolz(as the pro gamer says ugh).I read they are adding farming and such to the game as well which I can't wait for and hunting I think will be really solid in the months to come(here's hoping for bears and wolves).and vehicles I don't really care because I'm still gonna foot it I tell you they are going to be a death trap can you imagine AK's with 75 round drums will be barking at you and filling you full of hot lead at every turn. I think in the end there will be something for us all and with private shards come the ability to have the experience you want like role-play,no douches servers and of course the KOS PVP extravaganza circle jerk.

While I appreciate the reply and your insight I must disagree. I really think if you are able to challenge people sufficiently and give them something to work towards it will result in a less self-destructive player base.
Certainly there is the odd bad apple, that’s why we have prisons’ and mental institutions IRL. But I really believe something along these lines will focus the vast majority of the player base in a positive direction.

I hope your right I just have no faith in the whole survivors teaming up and communities forming in chenarus and have accepted that the only thing to expect from another player is bullets or deception or and that most are trolls and the only way to actually have a community of survivors or to team up is if you know the person in real life or the admin of a private server has set up strict guidelines about what survivors can do and cannot do. hopefully with private shards there will be a sense of everyone learning who is up to what you can actually get a reputation for being a scumbag murderer or a stand up dude then folks might actually team up more i for one hate public servers and as of now if i want to play i have to deal with some human garbage and like i said i have accepted that and have no animosity or rage i just avoid other players and kill douchebags when i can.

Lets Hope Devs FInd Some way To Occupy Everyone With Ichy Triger FIngers

Unfortunatly I Do Have to Agree trolls Are Always Around
But Still Hoard Killing is Fun Pass Time For Rare Loot
But I think they Must Resolve their Zombie Issues First, they Are Still Really Shotty And Bugged Experiance in Game
More Annoyance than Immersive With the Glitching

...For Me at Least

Get the mod.....fire an AKM in the middle of Cherno, enjoy the relentless never ending stream of zombies :)

They have always said they want more zeds, as mentioned they threw around the number 3000. If I remember though that was in a build without loot. Zombies and loot items both count towards the servers "item cap" so they will have to balance it out, im sure we will see more but they cant do too much heavy optimisation until they have all the features in, knowing what resourses they have to work with ect. Expect a lot more Z's its finished

as for an endgame, unique items is a good one, but I think that will be in anyways in the form of loot rarity and global item cap. Vehicles and basebuilding will supply a brilliant endgame aswell. But for me should be no defined endgame, freedom to do what you want as an endgame is part of dayz, for one person could be making a camp, another farming, another PvP. If its defined in any way we loose that freedom

Hopefully more zombies in the next few months.. more zombies alone will make the game atleast 3-4 times better

More zombies and I think make them a little more dangerous as well. One screaming sprinting zombie should attract others, for example.

But I think the people shooting people on the beach will be taken care of when it's not so easy to sit on the beach and shoot people. A few ways I think/hope this will happen.

Hunger. Hunger will be a real threat in the finished game.

Desease and illness. The risks for this are gonna be high. You eat some smelling food or drink some stagnant water without purifying it you will get sick. And sickness will kick your fucking ass. You will drop everything you don't need cause you're too exhausted to carry them. You got shot and didn't pull that bullet out and disinfect the wound? You just got sick. You shot someone and stole their loot without paying attention to them? You just got sick cause that person had diarreaha and you haven't disinfected that loot. Sickness should be a really really bad situation to be in. Alone your chances of survival will be slim.

Ammo will be rare, getting into a firefight will be a tough decision when all you have is 3 mosin rounds and a pistol mag.

There will also be things to work towards like fortifying a house to store your loot and rest. If you get sick and have a place to rest you're chances of survival will be higher. than if you where sleeping outside in the wild. And fixing cars, when you find a car you are gonna spend DAYS fixing that shit and lots of time keeping it running as well. You wont be fueling at the nearest fuel station any more, you'll be siphening car tanks and searching for jerry cans. fixing a car wont be a simple "find wheel, find engine parts, go" anymore, there will be different parts for different types of vehicles, a bus wheel wont fit your motorbike. A motorbike engine part wont fit your hatchback.

Hunting will be a big factor too because it will be a good source of food, setting snares and traps about the woods to regularily check, or hunting deer and cow. Though this creates another threat, what if someone finds your snares and waits for you to come collect your food? You just got sniped and are now being cut of to feed that group of bandits.

How about a growing necklace of zombie ears to signify one as a zombie slayer. I have suggested this several times. The reward is that every time you bag 50 you can craft  bottle of Zombie repellent that actually works 50% of the time.
