Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted September 25, 2014 Another thing, check your gear and see what condition it's in. I can guarantee that a badly damaged or ruined jacket isn't going to do much in the way of keeping you warm.
Evil Minion 943 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) There are different conditions on different servers. Yesterday I played on "cold" servers (the ones where you can see your breath) for the first time after the 0.49 update. I was cooling off most of the time but quite slowly and in fact my temperature didn't drop too far. Then I got on a "warm" servers and was warming up until the messages disappeared (probably when I reached my target temperature). Back to a "cold" one (stupid restarts) I was in the same state described above. Now using a colder outfit on one of those "cold" servers might not be the best idea. I once (before the hotfix) encountered a bug that made me got soaked instantly upon walking into the rain but as it was on a "warm" server I did not freeze. And at some point I was about to grill some deer steak but it warmed up and burnt in no time. Probably the issue is related to gamespeed? I also noted no difference between pristine and ruined clothes in terms of protection (maybe the changed this?). Outfit: Wool Coat, Assault Vest, Cargo Pants, Jungle Boots, Gloves and Gorka E Helmet (no visor) Edited September 25, 2014 by Evil Minion
dirrly 70 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) I also noted no difference between pristine and ruined clothes in terms of protection (maybe the changed this?). I don't have valid numbers to state what I say... but a few days ago (sunday I think) a friend hit me with a firefighter axe, when he wanted to kill a zombie, causing my vest and jacket go to ruined (before: vest = worn, jacket = pristine). I nearly instant got the message, that I am slowly cooling down. Before were no messages as my temperature seemed to be fine. So I think there is a difference. HIHBGaming 14 Posted September 25, 2014 HIHB servers are set to a warmer time of year, this has to be taken into consideration. Just take notice of whether your breath is visible or not. I am not sure if all Vilayer servers are set to warmer times of year but it will make a difference in clothing you will have to wear as well as whether you get hypothermia/hyperthermia. Care to elaborate? What other settings can you change as an admin that are not listed in server browser?
HIHBGaming 14 Posted September 25, 2014 Time of year? Care to elaborate? What other settings can you change as an admin that are not listed in server browser? It is obvious that I cannot set the time of year yet but it is the GSP who does. That's why you get cold weather where you can see your breath and warm weather where you can't. I use whatever tools/settings I am allowed to use, nothing more, nothing less. I am not sure you're implying something or I am just reading into what you're saying the wrong way. I can guarantee that a badly damaged or ruined jacket isn't going to do much in the way of keeping you warm. Well I have a ruined Gorka jacket and the thing still keeps me dry and I'm yet to run into any warmth issues. Just the odd 'You are cooling off' 'You are warming up' messages which don't see to effect the character. Only time I've got cold so far is as a freshie and when I've been soaked from drinking at a pond.
ColonelBurton 145 Posted September 25, 2014 You are all wrong. This is simply a bug. It occurs sporadically on some but not all servers. My gear is pristine, no visible breath in front of my face. When I say "went from normal to cold" in three minutes I actually meant that I got the yellow bar in my status. See this video. If you can't accept that this is broken then you're the ones that can't accept that this is Alpha, not me.

At no point do I get wet, I do not even touch the "pond" that is actually a ditch2.) The message "I am promptly cooling off" comes right away3.) There is no rain, just a brief drizzle4.) My inability to find Vybor without a compass has zero to do with the fact I realise this is a broken mechanic In other words, just eff the eff off you flaming troll! Martmital 436 Posted September 25, 2014 Most of the video is you standing around, walking near ponds, lying down on the ground and it was raining. I've only ever reached cold status from being damp or being a freshie.

Martmital 436 Posted September 25, 2014 JESUS CHRIST! I AM FULLY GEARED AND STANDING AND RUNNING AROUND FOR THREE MINUTES!!!!!!!! WHAT PLANET IS THIS, JUPITER MOON EUROPA????? for nearly a minute at the start you are standing about in the rain doing nothing. You begin to jog up hill for a few seconds only to then stop again for a few seconds. You once again begin to walk/jog uphill where you stop again for a few seconds. At 1:30 you once again stop for 5 seconds. After this you sprint for a full minute! So in fact for most of the time you are doing nothing but standing around. Hot bar that compass dude, makes it so much simpler to use!
ColonelBurton 145 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) Congratulations on being a twat. Sorry dude.. you seeing a bug.. i seeing a noob. You see I a noob. I see a computer kiddie who has obviously never spent three minutes outside. Hot bar that compass dude, makes it so much simpler to use! Nope. I don't want to have to put it in my hands. Thanks for trying to patronise me though, "dude" Edited September 25, 2014 by ColonelBurton

Khanarac 252 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) @OP I had that happen to me twice, BEFORE the hotfix...I can't remember...maybe it was experimental. It was in Kelm. I figured it might be to it's "high" altitude. Got hypothermia within 10minutes or so and died quickly. I only found a woolcoat after about 7 minutes though, sun was shining Must've been -30 degrees. I failed to spot a pattern on this so far, and it never occured to me again after that two times on the same day. ( I didn't play much SA anyway recently). I figured the first characters after the patch or the wipe are bugged somehow. Please report if this ever happened to you again. Also....wood doesn't have to dry a summer. We cut trees in the military to make fire for the whole platoon. Ofc it worked, the fire was huge. The enviroment temperature was about -20 degrees C and it was dry, no snow nor rain. Thanks for trying to patronise me though, "dude" I normally use an umbrella when i go outside.. . and i will NEVER go to the countryside without water proof clothing. Also...compass in hand, and find you bearings by turning around with you body... ONCE... not by keep checking your inventory 100 times to know where you going. Yes, way to go sidetracking from the issue. EDIT: I've decided to remove what I wrote about Cpanther due to seeing the admin request. Still, these two people, who are obviously incapable of judging a broken game mechanic, have ended up on my ignore list. Congrats. It takes a lot to achieve that. Cpanther 221 Posted September 25, 2014 Yes, way to go sidetracking from the issue. I feel sorry for you that you are made of sugar. And congrats on being the first person to end up on my "ignore" list. I don't have the mental capacity to speak to people with an IQ below 50. Have a nice "life"Dude... i won't say anything about IQ's if i was you, yours doesn't looks very spectacular.

ColonelBurton 145 Posted September 25, 2014 Must've been -30 degrees. Nope. I've actually been outside in -30°C for several hours before my feet were really cold and I needed a warm shower. The temperatures that cause this are more likely to be around -50°C to -90°C at the rate the characters cool down. Fact is, however, it does not rain at such low temperatures. I don't get wet but i can't hold my bodytemp either! It is not a question of whether it is broken or not. Just ignore the people that profess otherwise. You'll see that the devs will comment on this needing a fix pretty soon.
soulfirez 901 Posted September 25, 2014 In game temperature must be set by the server as i have played on hell in a handbasket server wearing ttsko jacket autumn hunter pants gloves beanie mil boots and high capacity vest at sunrise and i get a steady temp but when i change to hardcore pvp server(both australian servers) and it was 1 in the afternoon my character was steadily getting cold. So i am not sure the mechanic is broken so much as i think some servers are using the wrong setting but thats just my 2 cents...
