LHurlz 2 Posted September 18, 2014 I'm running outside and I get cold, even though this doesn't make sense because running keeps you warm I'm willing to let it slide. What I don't get is, why when I go inside (I am fully clothed none of it ruined) for a while I do not get any warmer; I just keep cooling off instead of warming up. I'm not sure if there's maybe something I should be understanding with the new temperature stuff but I'm confused by it and I've already died once of hypothermia on a sunny day without rain/being anywhere near water/etc etc blah blah. Thanks in advance if someone can explain why this is the case.
jukaga 271 Posted September 18, 2014 They must be just testing the variables. I had hypothermia in the cold rain, but a few minutes in a house brought me back to 'cold' status. Can anyone confirm if lighting a fire warms you up?
LHurlz 2 Posted September 18, 2014 Suppose I should have considered it's only a test, was still more than annoying dying of random hypothermia while fully kitted out
umm_me 77 Posted September 18, 2014 Your body temperature is most effected by server temperature, rain/ "wet-ness" of your clothes, inside/outside, proximty to fire, how much clothes, which clothes, state of clothes not ruined. Movement seems to have no effect.
iFailed 2 Posted September 18, 2014 Unless the houses are protecting you from the wind, I don't see why they would be warmer than the outside. Try lighting a fire and standing near it.
LHurlz 2 Posted September 18, 2014 While I'm here I may as well ask, is there a cure as such for hypothermia?
johnny0964 (DayZ) 15 Posted September 18, 2014 While I'm here I may as well ask, is there a cure as such for hypothermia?Put on warm clothing like a hoodie or heavy jacket. Every piece of clothing has a heat value. If your body raises your heat level to a certain amount, your hypothermia will soon fade. Same thing with hyperthermia. If you are too hot, remove clothing or expose yourself to water.

Either that or you were frozen solid. :D
surf_polar 110 Posted September 18, 2014 Before I got an axe to the head, I was sitting next to a fire and it indeed got rid of the hypothermia status in about 10 minutes. Make sure wring out your wet clothes as well.

(im not joking)heating up takes a while from clothing. some clothing wont give status changed until u drop it on ground to "wring" it out.
Kirov (DayZ) 585 Posted September 18, 2014 A campfire definitely works for me, but right now I have this impression that that temperature thing is still buggy. I can drop damp clothes on the ground, pick them up and they're dry again (or at least without the 'damp' status). At the beginning I had the option to wring out my shoes, and the rain was falling inside buildings. And sometimes I had 'cooling off' and 'warming up' info immediately one after another. Sometimes I was dry and then immediately 'soaked' (in the rain), without any 'damp' or 'wet'. Also, I'm quite sure running warms you up. I believe we can expect some minor fixes with that mechanics.
Hrki 94 Posted September 19, 2014 well its kinda stupit because eaven if you are in houses (ok windows are broken but still) sometimes you just cant light up the fire because of the "wind is blowing" - inside the house >.< and someitmes i lit up fire in house or outside i sit near it and in 2-3 min i was warm up, my "cold" status gone, and after 30min of playing i got again cold, i try with diferent tipes of clothes and it doesent have any improvments ... eaven if you are on sunny day it is just somekind like random for now... it is almost same as hungry/hydrated - on some servers i can run all day and on some i cant get from balota to elektro without eating or drinking btw if you get sick because of cold do antibitocis work ? TonyMahony 17 Posted September 19, 2014 By the way, what is the temperature like in Chernarus?Sometimes you see you own breathe so it must be around 0°C. In the sun it must be much warmer. But who knows how warm it really is?

Thanks in advance if someone can explain why this is the case.Initially your body warms up as you run, then you begin to sweat, then the cold freezes the sweat and you become hypothermic and die. Look for a good jacket (Puffy down jacket or a Wool coat) and you'll start to warm up. Make sure you're healthy, that should lessen the effects of the weather a bit also. Schweinsteiger 107 Posted September 19, 2014 By the way, I've only tried lighting a fire once and it didn't go well. I made a fire starter kit and dropped some matches into it, nothing happened. So, do I gather some kindling, add bit of fire wood, drop it all on the ground and then use the matches? How do I start a fire guys? Thank you.
Killawife 599 Posted September 19, 2014 Anyone know how to use the thermometer? I found one yesterday but couldn't get a reading on it so i tossed it.
jukaga 271 Posted September 19, 2014 They really need to add an option to disable the notification spam in the bottom left corner. I'm being harassed by temperature notifications every 10 seconds. Here's some news: I don't give a flying fukk. I'll press tab if I need an update.
Schweinsteiger 107 Posted September 20, 2014 Found out how to lite a fire, thanks anyways. I put one log on the fire kit and that sucker burned for over a half hour.

umm_me 77 Posted September 22, 2014 In my experience so far a rain coat/gorka coat and any pants both worn condition... then boots gloves hat in almost any condition above ruined... and your body temperature will be fine at all times. I am thinking movement has an effect now, but it is smaller then other factors.
