Considering playing on 'merican servers

Taking into consideration the desync and general net issues, I doubt a 170~120 ish ping should make such a difference against the 70ping I normally get anyway. Better that and have people I can understand rather than hearing people screaming in the language of the Deutschland or may the gods forbid, Ruskies. How do you folks think it'd effect performance?

 

Edit: Also it's hard to actually find brits on a british server :v

I usually play on US Servers, as everyone can join those. Australians, Americans, EU-folks - it's the nice middleground.

 

Even a constant ping of 180 is fine. You can usually assume for both ARMA as well as DayZ that a ping of 200 is still playable.

If your just across the pond over in Britian, you should be fine lag-wise playing on a 'murican server. Im an American and ive played on servers from countries that are about equal distance away, and ive been fine. my ping usually stays about the same no matter what server im on.

Hm, i don't know. Over the last two patches, i felt like a ping below 50 makes a huge difference compared to 70 or 80, though i can't really tell you how the difference feels from 80 to 150, since I mostly avoid servers with such pings. My observation was that a low ping not only affects lag and desync, but also stuff like AI-collision ( zombies clipping through objects ) and key responsiveness, which you wouldnt connect to ping in first place.

 

But as always, I also could be totally wrong.

I normally have between 70-80 ping so considering what others said, I won't be missing out on much by the looks of it.

You should be fine to play with us here in murica. I play on EU servers with pings around 95~110 and it seems to be OK for me. You will have to watch out for the sqeakers and shoot everything that moves kiddies but if you can handle the increase in ping I say go for it

Eh I'll have to see when I try it haha. If it squeaks, I make it bleat and probably cry to their parents about dying  so okay, thanks for the tip. I don't think everyone is terrible though. R-right?

as for EXP even the southwest Servers work for me with a ping of around 150 ( connecting from Germany )

Sorry if I misused your local server, but for an unknown reason I cannot join any german server. But I think it should be polite to greet other people in english when playing. Consider those folks form "Deutschland" to be stupid kids. I apologize in place of them.

Yeah me too, I even speak english to people when i play on a german server. We are an international community, aren't we? ( Though i ask quite quickly where they come from, especially when i hear them speaking in german accent )

If you are masochistic:

-join a server where you can't talk to anybody.

If you are NOT masochistic:

-use verbal communication of the SAME language to engage in friendly banter.

-don't restrict yourself to a life of killing on sight every clown you see because no one will trust you if you cannot talk to them.

-realize the tiny increase in ping for what it is and compensate with different tactics.

For me, when playing on UK servers, my ping is ~130-150, & I notice my keys being a TAD bit less responsive. But yes, absolutely playable.

You're spot on with your assumption, not every one here has a giant gun and yells Merica when they kill you. I'd say its about on par with most servers, some shoot on sight, some are cautious observers and some just want to be left alone. I will say though peeps on the EU servers are a tad bit friendlier but that's just my experience
