haknslash 763 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) Speaking of Silent Hill, I tried the new P.T. Demo for my PS4 and holy crap is it creepy. I wished the whole game was going to be in first person though. Can't wait for the new silent hill now! Edited August 28, 2014 by haknslash
Karmaterror 982 Posted August 28, 2014 The proportions do seem a little out, shrinking us is defo better than redoing all the buildings. I have to admit they look worse on some of your shots, and it may have something to do with your vid settings. Looks like you got some serious "fisheye" vision going on, adjusted your FOV? Also a lower res can make things distorted, ie x,y pixel count is off so ends up stretching the image exaggerating the effect. Maybe if you could get your res up and change that FOV to normal it wouldn't look quite as bad. I do agree though it is a thing.
Ben_uk 24 Posted August 28, 2014 For me the interiors suffer from flat lighting and low res, compressed looking textures. I do appreciate though that not many buildings were enterable before, so that's some progress, but the things I've mentioned plus the terminally slow door opening speed are kinda frustrating issues. Hit the key to open door wait 3 seconds for the door to open? - If so that's lag.Hit the key door opens but very slowly? - Can't say I've ever noticed a door opening slowly. Yes I use the highest possible value of FoV because otherwise I start to feel wierd playing this game. It is true that with my settings, this proportion problem becomes more glaring since there are no shadows'n shit to "hide" some of this things + this high FoV also doesn't help. But you see, this friend of mine that helped me with the screenshots, he goes with lower FoV and after we talked about this proportion thing, he can't "unsee" it lol. I agree with shrinking the char/zed models a bit, it would help a lot in this!
klesh 2423 Posted August 28, 2014 I think your fisheye lens settings are exaggerating any perceived issue. I'll look at a gurney next time I'm near one in first person; I don't recall them being that out of proportion with my character.

SniperwolfMR 153 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) Yeah smaller avatars could be a thing too!I'll provide some nice screenshots of all this really soon, now that I know how to make them. EDIT: Me and a friend went on a quest for them holy screeshots, and here are some nice ones. Don't mind the potato Why are you posting Golden Eye screen shots in a Day-Z forum? Weirdo.. haknslash 763 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) AHahahhah np my friendI also primarily play on fisrt person, thats how I first noticed it. Take a look at this hospital bed for exampleI think it's your FOV setting making it look more exaggerated. Mine doesn't look that distorted on default FOV. I snagged this pic today after remember your pic http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/66747416004943897/EDBBF7BAAEE2824E1448A4CD855860C2680C8F59/ Edited August 29, 2014 by haknslash
klesh 2423 Posted August 29, 2014 Nice, bring us some screenshots too so we can discuss this thing! Here you go. The middle one is from the crouched position. You see, it looks a lot more normal for me. I am using my native screen resolution of 1920x1200. http://imgur.com/a/h5SK0

I am using my native screen resolution of 1920x1200. http://imgur.com/a/h5SK0 True man, it doesn't look so bad. Seems like higher fov highlights this issue, I tested here myself and with lower fov value the interiors doesn't look so bad, but I think that is because you "lose reference" of your body or any other "human" to compare with the scene so our brains go like "well this is gud, go on". Even on 3rd person, lower fov doesn't allow you to see your whole body so an interior scene doesn't look so bad.I mean, in the screenshot I posted you can see my shoulders and chest, so there you have a reference for the hospital bed. Notice how it even looks better on mr Haknslash pic then on yours Klesh, since he seems to have a lower FoV value then you. Those pic that my friend is with me shows a bit of the proportion problem in another perspective, so even if high fov highlights the problem, it means that it exist anyways right? It seems like I'm cursed to live with this uglyness since lower fov makes me sic :(.Good for the console people that aways roll with low fov lol... All this made me think about the graphical quality they will deliver on PS4. I mean, no other console game has such graphical problem. I still belive that this game's interiors needs some love. Well who knows, maybe in DayZ 2 lol. EDIT: I took 2 more screenshots, each one with a diferent fov value. See how the fov hides the proportion problem.Oh and be ready to some more potato lol I have this feeling that with higher fov, your "eyes" are in a more realistic postion. Its like, when I look down in real life it looks more like the first screenshot then the second one, idk lol. I belive that this pic here shows good why it looks better at lower fovs Theese 3 pics I took without moving my char/camera. Just changed the FoV value from the highest on the first pic, to the lowest on this pic here. The zoom effect that lower fovs provide, seems to be imo the reason why it may not look disproportional in ones view. But I belive that if you put a friend of yours by the side of an object, you will see clearly the modeling problems I'm talking about that imo curses this games potentialy beautifull interiors!
