Spawned, thought I'd see if i could swim, so i ran off the dock and... Busted my leg.

On the mod... broke my legs when entering a building... had to crawl for 30 mins before finding a zombie to put me out of my misery.

On standalone - first one i don't really count it - asked a passerby to kill me as a zombie hit made me bleed heavily and ruined my start shirt within 2 mins of spawning.
Second death - some zombie ran thru a wall and single shot me while i was looting a barrack at balota.

I fell off a water tower while messing around with another bambi. We both jumped to see what would happen. This was before they revamped the gravity settings, back when you could often live and not even break your legs. Anyway, he was fine, and I broke my legs after which he beat me unconscious and killed me then roleplayed screaming, "He was my friend! Waahhh!! *cries*" Never did find that guy again, but he was funny.

Spawned on the coast, first building I found was a shed, fell off the stairs, broke my leg and crawled 15 minutes until a zombie lady beat me to death.

I've never played Arma or the mod. DayZ standalone is a complete first for me.

 

My very first spawn, 2mins into the game for the first time, I found a barn. I went up one side of the hay loft to see if anything was up there.

 

Nothing.

 

Across on the other hay loft I did see something. On my way back down the stairs, I jumped off the side about 4-5 steps up and broke my leg. (I didn't know I couldn't do that at the time). So, i'm crawling around with nothing. I spent 30mins crawling around looking for an ax, another player to help (of kill me so I could respawn), or a zombie. Eventually, I found a zombie.

I joined a server to start testing my graphic setting to get a smooth experience. But it gets worse... I start walking into this small town, to find some clothes. I was butt naked. Got a hoodie, some jeans and shoes. A rifle with no ammo, and a can of food. It was great my first time playing. Then I go across the street to an industrial building, walk up the metal stairs and hear someone whispering "I can ssseeee you"..."but you can't ssseee meeee". I was genuinely scared at this point. Walk down the stairs, all clear. Open the double door, all clear. Then before I could look left , THIS LITTLE ASSHOLE COMES OUT OF THE BUSHES SCREAMING LOUDLY AND BEATING ME IN THE HEAD WITH A HAMMER WHILE STILL YELLING. Needless to say, it make me love the standalone more.

I had absolutely zero experience with the game or the controls, I went up to towards the construction site in Berezino, went into a house that is super low yield found nothing and then was attacked by a zed which got me bleeding. I had no idea what to do or even how to do it. I bled out very quickly. Then I went to the wiki to try to figure some stuff out.

I like to start games that way, it gives me a good feel for the learning curve.

I Think maybe a bug through vaulted through  walls / through stairs / floors and in your case a window lol unless its meant to be

I was having a grand ole time with a friend of mine, we were doing wonderful for ourselves at the time, had traveled pretty far inland, but then we realized we were dehydrated af, (And we had no clue you could drink from ponds) and well, my friend dropped unconscious, I'm freaking out, not wanting to die, and then I dropped unconscious, only to never see daylight again... (In that life that is ;) )
