Backpacks are easy to find.

The SMERSH vest is only heli spawns I believe

 

No. Found my first one in the mil building at Turovo and another one in the tents at Balota

 

 To me the word sounds just like the texture looks...

They only have a 2% spawn chance there i believe (from scouring Reddit)..and the spawns are not working there for anything anyway :)

But why are the bags arleady being found at Balota? That makes no sense that the vest is only helicopters but the bag that goes with it is at bases.

 

Because the bag it self is a backpack, unless you attach it to the vest, as far as i understand.

So like other backpacks, it should be fairly easy to find, but the vest should be quite rare, because of the huge amount of space you can get from combining them :)

Well, i am pretty sure that smersh vests can not be found @ airfield military bases. Done quit a lot of server butthopping checking NWAF and the military base below Vybor - no luck.

Guess we should look for them heli crash sites for that beauty. Or maybe stalk some lucky ass  B)

Just the static ones tho. The rusty old MI-8s. There's three of those on the map. One in the swamp between Komarovo and Balota, one near Guglovo and one near the ship-wreck by Berezino.

 

Problem: the loot spawns there don't work in this version, sadly. There's nothing spawning at all. Found a SKS there last week on exp, after that zippo, on exp and stable. More waiting for SMERSH, I suppose. Also means no PM63-RAK.

 

Btw: Dayzdb.com is always pretty accurate when it comes to locations where stuff should spawn.

Yeah DayZDB says SMERSH backpacks spawns at the heli sites, but i am going to check it out and see if stuff spawns there, who knows...

There are a lot of server admins exploiting server restarts to spawn heli crash sites....

I was on a server that restarted almost every 30 mins...

If they were heli sites only someone would have confirmation by now

As I said, it's not the dynamic ones that spawn on server restart. It's the static ones that do not spawn loot at the moment. For all intents and purposes, the Smersh vest is currently not in the game.

 

And @DannyNickelov: Save the time. I've been to about 20 of the damn things today (lots of walking involved on different servers), never was there a SINGLE piece of loot.

Yes, that about sums it up. At least if the DayZDB is correct in that the smersh vest only spawns in those crashed helis.Which seems to be the case, as it doesn't spawn anywhere else, either.

You can get, but that means you have to abuse how loot respawn works atm. There are 3 static chopper crashsites currently ingame. I'm not talking about the 3 chopper crashsites (with thick smoke) that respawn on random places after server restart. Currently the 3 static sites dont spawn any loot on server restart, but they spawn loot, if stuff is getting looted around it, 1km radius or similar I believe. You need to be really lucky being at right place in right moment, or having a 10-20 man squad just constantly looting everything around, in the houses/villages in 1km radius of the static chopper site and you maybe get it to spawn. Thats the ONLY way currently getting the SMERSH vest.

 

I hope you understand what I mean, I wouldnt recomend trying getting it atm although, hopefully we have a new patch/update soon that is going to solve this issue.

You have to use a static heli crash that got loot cycled. I've been trying to trigger loot spawns but nothing happens.

the RAK and the mag are easier to get(though no easy by any means) the vest is the hard one...

 

sad to cause the RAK has nothing special to it...worse than the MP5-K in every way IMO
