Experimental Expectations?

Recommended Posts

This tweet from Hicks has sparked a few questions in my mind.

I'm wondering if someone from the team has ever laid out exactly what to expect from Experimental and what is expected from players, such as should we be submitting Feedback bug reports.

Every once in awhile there is a message in red at the bottom left of the screen that advises you are on experimental and that you should report bugs when you encounter them.

I think you need to read the comment that he was replying to in order to get the context. The way I take it is that the person (and actually a few people) feel like they should be able to easily find and pick up the new items. There's a guise of them wanted to "test the new guns" but really all they want to do is play with the new toys. I feel like Hicks is saying that we should just play the game naturally instead of begging for instant access to the new stuff.

Of course users should submit feedback bug reports. The core of what he saying is something like "we are doing internal testing while allowing others to join and play around". Thats kind of explains why there are no patchnotes for experimental: The real testing/playing with new toys is supposed to happen on the stable branch while experimental is more about generic mechanics like loot respawn.

Data collect, that is testing from the other side of the fence (development).

I really do not understand how this is a surprise or that people do not, or can not grasp this.

Player feedback is another element, something that most people understand but have trouble accepting that it is just that, feedback.

Yes you should most certainly submit bugs and give mention on the Forums but please do not explain in detail how to reproduce anything that may be conceived as an exploit.

"experimental" can only be experimental because it has players in it - if there were no players there would be no experiment, right ?

so it's an opportunity for the players and the devs to see what happens.

This is cool, I don't know how people can find an issue in it. Go into experimental and - not only play the game but play with the game, see what happens, say what happens, find out what happens, discuss it, report it, have fun and see what comes up from the fun, what works, what is strange, what is bugged.

It's a great opportunity to get with the game and the development right where it's happening.

How can anyone have any doubts about this ?

- explore, enjoy, report, discuss, play ...

Nice feature

Because it's not like people can go into the bug reporter and read them anyway
