I was wondering if they are able to spawn again yet?  I remember they said that they only spawn at crash sites, as well as ammo, yet crash sites weren't spawning so is there any way of getting ammo/m4's now or are people who still have them SOL?

What is it with the m4? I get it that it is an "iconic" rifle for some folks but there are other guns that go pew pew as well. I pray it never comes back, it doesnt really have a reason to be in Dayz at this point and its horribly inaccurate to boot

I don't see why it shouldn't be there, at least rare and only at heli crashes and if a US base is made (which I doubt and am not for). Realistically there was US troops in Chernarus, there have to be some lying around. I prefer AKM anyway so IDC whether or not it's easy to find :)

As far as I know, helicopter crashes (i.e. the only place where the humble, mid-range, intermediate, assault rifle... the M4A1... spawns) are quite buggy. Likewise, 5.56x45 also only spawns at these locations (could be wrong, I've heard of it spawning at police stations to perhaps accommodate the new AK-101).

 

So for the moment, yes, you may be SOL.

Yes, the M4A1 is in Chernarus. And has a plethora of reasons for being there.

I doubt they're removing it from the game, considering 5.56x45mm also only spawned at crashsites and the new AK-101 is a 5.56 gun.

The new AK 101 uses the 5.56 ammo so the ammo BETTER start spawning at a more steady pace otherwise why the hell would you make a gun NO ONE can barely use? This goes for the M4A1 as well. There is no law stating they cannot put an American made weapon in the game its just pure bias and ignorance at this point. And realistically there would be PLENTY of American brand weapons ppl try to smuggle into the country and use or alter.

Same. My character on hardcore is 5 months old with nine 60 Round Coupled Mags. And it would be a unicorn if I never took that gas mask off :(

And the fact that there are AR-15 manufacturers in Eastern Europe/post-Soviet countries (i.e. Luvo Prague [Czech Republic], Proarms [Czech Republic], Zbroyar [ukraine], Tara [Montenegro], Mayak [ukraine], OOO Skat [Russia], Heckler and Koch [Germany, formerly East/West Germany], Oberland Arms [Germany, formerly East/West Germany], TAM [Georgia}, etc.)

 

And never mind that AR-15s are used by many Eastern European/post-Soviet countries.

 

And we live in a globalized economy, with an intricate legitimate and illegitimate arms market (last I checked, they never made AR-15s in Northern Ireland and Palestine, so the PIRA and Hamas must not have ever had them, right?).

Exactly and this whole pure weapons Eastern Block pride bullshit needs to stop. If you were facing an enemy i don't think your really going to care whos fucking country made the weapon in a survival situation.

I've heard on experimental 5.56 spawns in military buildings for the ak 101 so it shouldn't be quite as rare as only spawning at crash sights which is nice.  It would have been a really dumb decision to include AK 101s and only have the ammo spawn at crashes.

I can't remember the last (or first) time I've seen a player using a P1, .22 (rifle), crossbow or bow. Ever.

I've seen people using axes, SKS, AKM, M4, Mosin, revolver, and Amphibia. I don't think I've ever seen someone using a 1911 come to think of it.

.22 guns in general are just all around bad designs. Ppl do use 1911s as they are a decent pistol.

The M4 is not "horribly inaccurate".. I can easily pick off players from 200+ meters with iron sights in 5 shots or less.

 

Until they add a KOBRA sight for the AK variant weapons, the M4 is superior in versatility, ROF, and agility, but inferior in damage, range, and availability. Once Heli crashes start spawning again and they DO add a KOBRA sight for the AK's, the two weapons will be relatively equal.

 

If you give me the option of a fully kitted M4 or a fully kitted AKM both with 300 rounds, I am taking the M4 every time.
