MortemDeos 1 Posted July 22, 2014 Hey guys, I have been playing DayZ for about 13 hours now (total game time) I have mainly been playing on low pop servers to get a feel for the game mechanics etc.. I have ok gear, Mosin (PU scope), magnum, camo gear, plenty of ammo and food. However, I have not seen one m4/AK/or LR scope yet, either on players or in barracks/police stations etc. Is it more or less likely I will find these in High pop servers? Also, should I just suck it up and play a high pop server and just get used to dying? I have no friends that play so I am always lone wolf, and in low pop servers I've always been shot at on sight, are high pop servers more veteran players that dont always KoS? TL;DR Will I be better or worse off in high pop servers looking for gear. Why haven't I seen one m4 or AK in dozens of prisons and barracks. Thanks 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Cannon76 13 Posted July 22, 2014 M4's pretty much can only be found at Helicoptor Crash sites at the moment. I am not certain of the number per server but I think it's 3 crash sites per server at any of a multitude of random locations. AKM's can be found in barracks primarily. At least thats where I have found them so far. LRS can still be found all over. I find them in storage garages all the time and in the tented military areas. Having great gear is much less fun than finding great gear. And finding great gear is way more fun when you're paranoid and constantly scanning that treeline and nearly have a heart attack when someone fires a mosin outside the building you're looting. Only reason I ever join a low pop server is if I wanna play around at night (hard to find populated night servers). Dying sucks the first few times, but in the end it'll just add more fun to your game. I wouldn't expect people on high-pop servers to be friendlier - high pop servers also attract the people who just want a good shootout. People on low pop servers might be the type that don't want to lose their gear, so that might make them a bit more nervous and trigger happy though. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

way455 40 Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) The population count of the server has nothing to do with the loot spawns. But high count servers will have less because their are more people looting. Stick to the low count servers if you want to find loot.I join a high count when I'm geared because I know there will be some action and I don't have to worry about finding anything. Evil Minion 943 Posted July 25, 2014 I think many players on low pop servers are afraid of other players and thus might react a little extreme when actually meeting someone when they just want to be left alone looting.
