I really dont get the point of bambi killing.

Clearly you don't understand body language. There's more to body language than the physical actions.

An example... If someone is crowding toward you, they are not giving you your personal space, which is a sign of hostility/aggression. Passive/submissive players/people/animals will attempt to make themselves smaller and put themselves further away, preferring a defensive posture, stance, or position. Hostile/Aggressive players/people/animals will attempt to make themselves larger, or attempt to own more "space/real estate" in the vicinity.. An aggressive player may run around in circles in your area, and close to you, while a passive player would crouch down and move away from you.

DayZ is real life in as much as players are people and people inherently and unconsciously manifest their emotional state into whatever "reality" they are currently occupying.

I have videos which demonstrate this, and if you actually pay attention in game to how people "act/move/posture", then it becomes pretty apparent. An example that comes to mind was that a friend and I were watching Berezino from the western hill, and we saw a player on top of the police station.. He had a small backpack on, and a starter weapon (maybe an SKS? if I recall..) We could just tell by the way that he was moving and standing and where and when he was pausing that he was relatively new to the game and that he was most likely friendly. Turned out we were right.

Language (if it gets to that point) is also a pretty clear indication of someones intentions, especially when combined with their "body language".

You can mock my logic and denounce this stuff all you want... Or you can incorporate it into your own play and see the results for yourself.

You have got to be kidding me lol....

So what about the guy who gives you plenty of personal space and then shoots you in the face or the back? Or the guy who will get "too close" to you even though he's clearly friendly. There are plenty of passive players who run around you and then run off and do absolutely nothing. Or someone who exhibits all the signs of a person who is friendly, and after adventuring with them, with no signs whatsoever, they suddenly decide to murder you. Did you "sense" that coming? Bet not. And just because it happens sometimes and happens to be right on occasion does not make it concrete. I have met plenty of friendly players who exhibited no friendly tendencies whatsoever, and visa versa.

......really? I mean really? What on earth makes you think that in a video game "a person crouching towards me has hostile intentions!!!!" Maybe they're people just messing around and doing things out of the ordinary because it's...oh i dunno...a video game? Making an assumption based off of your observations and it HAPPENING to be right every once in a while does not make it science. You even use language that indicates you made a guess...an assumption. "It turned out...", or "Was most likely...." So please don't try to tell me that there is some kind of scientific method to "sensing" the intentions of a person in a video game. Sure you can make educated guesses, but my whole point from the beginning was to refute the idea that you can simply "sense" and "come to the resolute conclusion" of a bambi's intentions based off of their actions. That is ALL i wanted to do, but apparently a couple of you have no concept of this idea and need it spelled out in a huge-ass response

I mean I hate to sound like I'm spelling out something obvious here but if you're going to sit there and tell me there's some sort of method here you bet I'm going to deny that up and down lol.

Good god.

"A person crouching towards me has hostile intentions!!!"? Where did you take that quote from because I certainly didn't say it...

Re-read my post before you misquote please. Furthermore, I have actual evidence/proof in video form supporting what I say. Every example you've given has been nothing but anecdotal. If you post a video of a specific encounter, I could break it down for you.

I mean, for someone like you who is struggling to grasp the English language, I'm not at all surprised that the idea of reading body language is a foreign concept to you.

Video games are just real people interacting through a different medium. Just like this text is a real person interacting with you through a different form. Again, though, I don't know why I'm bothering to explain something which involves nuance and subtlety to a troglodyte.

You're right.. Just shoot everyone, it makes your E-peen look big. Ingrate.

Aw cmon now, don't resort to name-calling. We were having a good conversation.

Now for example, you say...."if someone is crowding towards you" it's obviously a hostile action because they're "invading your space". What about the typical gamer who is just out to have fun in a video game? And turns out to be friendly, and does such an action for whatever reason he has? Because many scenarios have happened where people have acted in the most bizarre fashions, or fashions contrary to your logic structure, and resulted in either.

Please. PLEASE stop trying to act like the way people behave in a VIDEO GAME is some kind of science into the ethos of their minds eye. You CAN...NOT...TELL for sure what someone's intentions are based on your "scientific" (lol) model.

Please...just stop

edit: Oh and I edited this post because I found grammatical errors because I'm a troglodyte and an ingrate.

EDIT EDIT: For civility

I said someone who is crowding towards you is showing AGGRESSIVE body language. It doesn't necessarily mean they are aggressive, but if you have a gun and they do not and they are crowding toward you, it's a good indication that they may try to pull some bullshit.

Just because someone is running around in circles does not mean they are aggressive.. It's just showing that they are "assertive".. They are not afraid of you.. This may be because they are a fresh spawn and they don't care if they die, or it may be because they have friends following them and they are baiting you.. It could mean a lot of things. The point is, if someone was SUBMISSIVE to you, they would not run around in circles around you.. They would make themselves look small, or distance themselves from you.. But distancing is also a DEFENSIVE position, so just because someone is taking up a defensive position does not mean they will not take up that position then shoot you.

Boneboys is a sourpuss. It's like he is killing server bambies or something,

And if that isn't on topic I do not know what is.

I am generally friendly.  I will callout friendly and standby to drop you if you do not comply.

I have only killed one bambi and another player who wasn't doing anything wrong towards me (felt bad about it afterwards) but I have also dropped many suspicious players and bandits for attempting to ambush me, sneak up or thinking they could drop me before I got them!

I have been double crossed by friendlies but still manage to keep my willingness to help others while being on guard.  I even give out weapons with a warning that I will drop them at the first sign of retardedness!

My clan has a catch and release policy, we often try to recruit them if they sound mature enough but if they dont want to join we give them food/water and send them on their way. If they have a gun with ammo we take the ammo, set it on the ground and make them come with us for a few minutes...then set them free to run back for their ammo.

I'm pretty sure humans are the only species that kills for fun or sport. Only a sociopath would think that murdering innocent, unarmed people demonstrates power and strength.

Necro quote, but dolphins, orcas, and domestic cats all have been documented killing other animals for fun, playing with the corpse, and then leaving it to rot.
