[Official] Stable Hardcore Servers.. why so few?

Recommended Posts

So Im doing this search today to find all of the official STABLE hardcore servers in DayZ SA and I noticed that there are really not that many at all..

experimental however has many, many of them...

Am I just not seeing them or are there really only about 20 in total (or less).. and if so

WHY?!

Well, you can't see around corners and over low walls in Hardcore so camping and sniping becomes harder. That would be the main reason why. ;)

I think those that like the challenge of Hardcore are also more willing to overlook deaths to bugs and other unstable things and so are more willing to play on the experimental versions of the servers. That might explain the discrepancy in the ratio.... that and I believe BI pays for the experimental ones instead of individuals who want the easier setting enabled.

Lack of demand.

Well then.. commence the demanding!

For the same reason people gravitate to modded, 1000 vehicle, spawn-with-loadout, and insta-bloodbag servers.

Because it's an easy experience. Hence why things like fast food are popular. But are they good? Debatable.

I don't particularly think that TPV is somehow the last straw when it comes to deeming something as "easy." At the risk of sparking the absolutely haggard, beaten-to-death, inevitably vitriolic debate about TPV vs. FPV...

I will say this, I like both for different reasons.

Lack of demand.

Yes, very true fact. The general public doesn't want to play restricted to FPV. We get that. I think he was looking for more specific answers like...

"I don't like to play the game when I can't exploit corners and looking over walls to see zombies or other players when they can't see me."

I feel a lot of hardcore players play on 3rd person servers but in first person then die a lot and come on the forum to complain. If those players just stuck to hardcore then demand would increase but they'd rather a good moan on forums than actually commit to anything.

I play a bit of hardcore. For me, it's an entirely different game. I've never had an issue finding a server of any kind (low pop, med pop, high pop)

Most of the player base plays DayZ to PVP because 1) there's not much else to do, and 2) because getting a kill feels fairly satisfying.

This leads to 3) what's the easiest, most consistent way to get kills? Playing Regular servers!

This issue extends well beyond DayZ; society in general has gotten lazy as f*** and currently has zero attention span. Have you walked into a doctor's office lately? Or anywhere else with a group of people waiting for something, for that matter. Faces are buried deep within the screens of their mobile devices. People don't talk anymore. F***, people can't even sit STILL for five minutes.

Society has this comical sense of entitlement that extends much further than mobile devices; people feel that everything has to happen RIGHT NOW or it's either boring, s*****, or not worth their time. We could use the development of this game as an example. Look at the f***ing rants and whine threads.

Anyway, getting back on topic, it's my opinion that the lack of Hardcore servers befits the current generation of young people. A combination of social media (people like Failcriel streaming incessant PVP encounters), sense of entitlement (people wanting action RIGHT NOW as well as their inability to WORK for something coupled with their inability to partake in anything even remotely challenging, e.g: playing without being able to corner/ledge peek in third person) and a generally s***** player base is why the Hardcore servers are dwindling.

People citing that they want to be able to see their characters while playing (lol press TAB), first person gives them headaches (turn off head bob/post-processing. Also, how do you play ANY OTHER first person shooter? Never met so many people with motion sickness before I picked up DayZ), and not being able to see their peripherals (turn up your field of view or invest in a couple more monitors) are full of s***.

They want an easy mode SURVIVAL GAME. Lol.

EDIT: teh splelingz

.

I used to think all the motion sickness posts were bs until I got motion sickness. Had headbob etc off. It's basically down to low or stuttering fps. I'd get it after 30 min on hardcore. Once i was able to get over 30 fps in general I haven't had it since. I've never had it in any other game.

Supply and demand, my friend.  Each play style has its advantages and disadvantages but the server hoster is most likely going to choose the more popular style to get more players.  Until the game progresses and introduces more to the playing field in terms of gameplay or improvement, I can't see the hardcore figures growing,
