See on experimental servers I tend to always end up in a group of complete strangers whenever I respawn and end up having a blast until we log out, or actually make it to NWAF at which point we get shot by people already there. So if you're really looking for more friendly people, I'd say experimental is where it's at, lol.

Soooooo after not playing for a while I've gotten back into the game a bit.

And... I finally found a grenade!

Haven't worked out if I will just use it somewhere random in a forrest, or if I will hold on to it until I actually need it.

So, new approach to playing DayZ.

I have one 'serious' character on a private hive which I play my regular, 'lone-wolf hermit', style. Cautious and more about survival than guns and ammo.

However, this style does have the drawbacks of lacking interaction with players and also keeps me from exploring the bigger, higher traffice towns.

So I also have a character on the public hives who dies a lot and I actively seek out people. The most I usually get kitted with this dude is maybe a jacket, hat, a bag if I am lucky and a melee weapon plus a 'bluff' weapon, aka a gun with no ammo.

The other night I am playing and I get killed by some guy that I teamed up with. This time I had two sawn-off shotguns and find him alone and no kit. We team up and I give him a shotgun, and w go off on an adventure. Outside the Balota airfiled we are in the bushes seeing if we see anyone when he shoots me in the back.

You are dead.

Spawn back on the coast, near that spot where there is the house, jetty and a couple boats on the beach. I hide in a bush and I see about 4-5 people all running right, towards the factory area.

So I follow them.

Along the way I find a dude who gives me a heads up about a drybag in a house and I also find a hat and machette. 

Keep heading to the factories. I almost pass through the factory area when I noticed that there is about 5-6 bodies all littering the ground.

I find some cover and watch. I finally notice one guy moving. I run over so see what the G.O. is, expecting to be dead pretty soon.

He tells me that all the bodies are a 'hacker', and when I ask why he things it's a hacker he said that it's because he can't loot the body which makes him believe this.

He takes me to the 'body'. The weird thing being that where he is standing and saying there is a body, I can't see anything. I do noticed an actual body about 20m away and investigate that.

Silenced M4 with all the toys including the double mag things, and a pack full yellow boxes and ammo boxes.

Also gear wise, high cap vest (ruined unfortunately), russian helmet thing, military top and bottom, axe, etc.

So I am pretty excited and grab what I can, the stuff I can't grab I strip off the player for the guy who lead me to the body. I left him the bullet proof vest, but I probably should have grabbed that in hindsight.

At this point I am a bit nervous as I have gone from fresh spawn to fully geared in 3min.

So I run off without checking the ammo box or the yellow case.

I find a quiet spot to chill out on the hill and start digging. WOW!

The ammo boxes are clearly hacked, each one contains another ammo box and a yellow container.

Each yellow box seems to contain another yellow box and usually 3-5 bullets for the M4.

Once I have finished unpacking everything, which takes me moving location a few times so I don't get lost as to what I have and haven't looked in I have:

- 62 bullets for the M4
- 4 flash bags
- 1 grenade
- Skull face bandana
- 2 full mags for a sub machine gun
- 4 blood packets
- 2 morphine injectors
- 25 can's of opened peaches
- Full outfits in green, black and autum camo
- 80 rounds of mosin ammo
- Various compasses, lock pick kits, etc

The list kept going.

From all this stuff, I grabbed what I could that would usually fit in my bag and left the rest to disappear with the server reset.

By the end of it, I think there was about 20 ammo boxes and about the same of yellow cases.

So given I had all this loot almost literally fall into my lap, I've going to use it for good and hunt down any bandits who are killing fresh spawns.

Well, so much for my grand plans of helping bambis and hunting bandits.

I hadn't played for a bit since I got all the gear, went to Rog and walked up some stairs.

Standing at the top looking at some shoes and 'You are dead'.

Respawn within running distance but something ahs gone wrong and it's like my old body is next to me. I have that little gun and ammo icon and can 'view contents' of my body as well as check pulse.

Just that the inventory only opens for a split second.

Manage to run back to my actual body, get there and can't pick anything up off the body. Just will not pick it up and when I right click I get 'receiving'.

Fark...

Log out, log in and I'm in a field, naked and my feet hurt.

So played a couple hours last night using my 'good' character that I have on a private server.

The server is a private server with up to 30 plays, and usually has 10-20 on there. I've been using this server to play 'for real' and really being survivalist about it.

I was coming out of Zelenogorsh running along the road that heads NEE as there was a truck depo or something on that road just outside the town.

As I am running, BOOM, truck on the road ahead with the driver door open.

Immediately I run into cover and wipe the mosin out as this is SUSS!

I wait for 10min scanning the area for any activity as this has trap written all over it.

Nothing.

I finally make a move and get to the truck, jump in and drive.

To my surprised, FULL tank of fuel.

So at this point I am very excited as I will potentially be exploring the map in a truck.

I drive along the road and come across a small village and pull over to check for clothes as my character is hypothermic as I was running in the rain before and for whatever reason I can't light a fire.

I jump out of the truck and start walking forward, just as I noticed it's rolling towards me. Didn't manager to move in time.

OP - a few observations.

 

You fell through the floor of the NW bus garage construction site. (which is why your pants and gear in them were ruined, etc).  I've died that way there twice and have never gone upstairs there since.

 

You then logged into a perfectly normal server, in which the admins have used the messages of the day to try to scare you away by telling you your character has been reset. This is bullshit.

 

The protector cases full of other protector cases you found on the dead body are called Godboxes and are created through hacking and duping. Purists won't use them (and hopefully they can't be created any more).

I had this bug as well with the truck, when you are walking it's alright to cross the end of the map (and even go faaaaaar away) but trucks sinks instantly under the ground.. Motor fades... and then back to the beach !

PRetty much the same for me only im located near balota airfield/militairy.. i assumed that on those spots there was the most chance of running into people.. still not much luck.. Found people twice and twice it ended in a shoot off trying to fight for my life..

 

still find a lack of normal players atm where you can communicate with or tag along for a while.

 

Strange, when you go looking for players you don't find any.. but just try sneaking into a city hoping you'll avoid people ... 

lol - I was in the middle of NOWHERE one time, and five guys with spades ran up and beat me to death.

 

keeps you on your toes, I guess. ( I mean, getting beaten to death with shovels keeps you alert ... right?)

Something.... something has changed.

I've been travelling for weeks and I only say the undead occasionally. But now, they are everywhere... and they are STRONG!

 

Twice I've been stranded now with no way out.

 

I've been much more quiet, and move much slower now. Can't take any chances any more...

This is now the only way I feel close to 'safe'...



In related news, MP5 mags FOR EVERYONE! Damn, finding them every 5 seconds now.

Yeah, if people bump into me on a server and mentioned the thread then sure. Though atm I am on a random server I don't know the name. Usually I am on a private server, Hell in a handbasket I think.

 

I don't give away my location to specifically meet with people though as that's just asking for a black screen with small white writing, 'You are dead'

My player interactions generally fall into two groups; 'Initiated by me' and 'Impromptu'

The ones initiated by me are usually when I see a player and stalk them to see what they are about. Usually this is a case of waiting for that player to bump into one other player and watching the result of that interaction. If they interact without anyone dying then I will make contact.

Impromptu is when I am surprised by another player. Usually in these cases if I haven't been shot in the first 5 sec I see if they want anything and then get out of the situation asap.

These interactions are also sometimes when I see a player sprinting across a field with half a dozen friends looking to nibble on his face. I will try to pick off a few from a distance. But in the new update this results in me ending up with some new friends too. :p

Alright i will start playing on this server, can you at-least say if you are closer to the coast or inland? Because i usually play inland so i would like to know if you play inland or not because if not i would probably never run into you xD, adding onto this which of the 2 private servers? They have a hardcore and a regular i am guessing regular :P

Heaven on a biscuit is the regular server, Hell in a hand-basket is their HC server.

At the moment, I am on a public server, part of the name is '127157-Survival' and am near the coast heading towards Cherno.

Once this player dies, I will be jumping onto a private server again as generally I find the people playing are more sensible with less KOS.

Soooo, got a bit lost today and decided to head to the coast.

Ended up in a spot i had never visited before; the cliffs East across the water from Chero.

 

Decided that I will head West through Chero. For some reason I am always drawn to that little supermarket on the very West side of the map.

 

Pfft, what a spanner. Glad I didn't vote for him...

 

Decided to go around the North of Chero, rather than going through it. Stopped at a hunting stand to clear some zombies and scope out the city.

 

After an uneventful trip, only plagues by a few zombie encounters I decided to finish with a BANG!

 

Time to eat some peachs and bacon, then retire.

Soooo, on another server I picked up a character I had from a while back.

Here is the story in pictures:

I discovered how to make leather water bottles. I made 3 out of one cow and over my travels gave out 2.

Met some friendlies and had some fun times

Spotted a suspect tent

Found a frozen zombie...

 

Found a bear trapped police station

Then, after I got geared with an AKM and one mag, a Blazer, silenced 9mm without a mag I went to NW

 

Managed to get through most of the airfield and to the fire station without much effort. Was pinned on a roof for a bit by a zombie but took him out slowly with the one round at a time 9mm silenced P1.

 

Then I got to the building next door, 2nd floor on the ground under the bed I found some AK ammo. I lay down to pick it up and....

Back on the coast, I headed straight inland and found a house right near the coast PACKED with starter gear. A million books but also bats, wrenches and knives. Everything a bambi needs to get a head start.

 

 

I was going to try and make it back to my body... but CBF.

A new adventure awaits...

This is brilliant, basically making me even more aware of all the crazy things that could kill me, but also of all the fun I can have trying to survive with canned peaches and a single load makarov as my two best friends!  B)

Just one thing. You probably figured it out by now. If it says "my leg is painful" you need Morphine or a Splint. Otherwise you collapse and die within 30 Minutes (I think 30 is correct).

 

I am a nice player when I gear up, but I usually turn bandit at some point, because I simply carry too good gear to risk greeting everyone I see. It's amazing how sometimes I am on a player with 20 people and the most I see is a bambi running through the police station. And then, a week ago I was on a server with only 4 other people, 3 of which I bumped into and observe for a while, before moving on. I wish Teamspeak wasn't a thing, so all people would be forced to talk in open channel (or in the radio, if they have one). The ingame communication is awesome, but rarely used by group players. I see you use it a lot ^^
