Real Secret Military Base

Recommended Posts

I was in Novo and I made a loop west into a secret military base in the middle of nowhere alone with woods all around. They were barracks but the buildings didn't look the same and I could walk through walls. There were no loot spawns and it was surrounded by a fence with a guard stand you could overlook into the woods. I didn't get a picture of it though because I didn't think about it (how stupid).

I assume this is the location on the map. Seems the most logical. Does someone have a picture of it?

Hmm, that definitely is new because I always used to walk that pathway from NEAF to the castle, then to NWAF

If it's the spot you pointed to on the map, it's been mentioned before.  Don't think it's a town per say, but rather an extension of NEAF.  Checked DayZDB's maps (Both mod and SA) It's new to the SA but it's been in for a couple of patches at least.  In the mod there was just a dirt road leading up to there that ended at a shed.  Since there's very little at NEAF in the way of buildings I'd say that's where the actual barracks are, and to keep the airfield itself clear because (at least according to Arma2 Lore) NEAF is a 'practice' field where paratroopers would train.

I have been there and was expecting them to make it a military base before. It has been there for awhile. Just had those new buildings added but it has always had the millitary guard post tower so I knew they were going to make a base there

It's new but it's not much of a military base, considering the loot tables for the barracks only have junk loot in them.

The place itself is ancient, however, I read somewhere (possible Reddit) that new barracks were added in .46. Still have to check for myself.

Would be nice if the devs made it into a comms station of sorts. The small installation south of Vybor is suited for that as well, I think.

Used to be the L shaped unsearchable mil building. In the mod it was a dead end road leading to a lil grey shed. I was always hoping they would change it up to something searchable. They finally got the wall collisions in on 47, but the doors are locked.

I really dislike the internet for stuff like this though, go out and discover the world for yourselves. It's so much more enjoyable. And man do they need to secure their files or something. This whole idea of checking the code for what's going to be there before it's even there is f n retarded and in my opinion, just a little bit sad.

The entire NEAF will be made into a civilian airport area, as least thats what I understood from the devs..

So it makes sense that those barracks are new buildings, and not the old style, as I am sure they will spawn different loot tables. I wouldn't expect the NEAF to ever go back to a military installation in any way.. but having those buildings in the forest should make for some great encounters once they do start spawning loot ;)

PBO file structure makes securing them essentially impossible. There's no real way to prevent people from opening them up with something like PBOView or PBOManager. They'd have to change their entire file organization that BIS has used since the days of Operation Flashpoint, and the only purpose would be to limit people from viewing content which will be public within a few weeks. Sounds rather pointless to me.

Plus, there's nothing really wrong with it. You don't have to go looking at the public DayZ maps or viewing into the game's files, but it's extremely helpful for testing that you can. If everything was just left a mystery, bugs & glitches would last a lot longer because people don't know what to look for. That, and the devs love showing off new stuff that they've added, as any creator does.

It's like telling someone who needs to get to a place they've never been to go out and explore and destroy their GPS, because you'll have a much more significant reaction when you come across it. It might feel that way to you, but to the other person, they just want to get where they need to go. There's no need to force them to do it one way or the other.

Right now, in experimental, the walls for these buildings are solid and the entry door is unopenable.   On the north side of the new village East of Novo they have one military jail, it's next to an industrial building and set back a little from the road, be careful, the second floor is bugged and will break your legs if you are not careful.
