Any plans from developers to allow players to become a zombie once killed by them?

In most zombie lore once bitten by a zombie you become a zombie. This is what makes a good zombie story interesting because characters that were once family, friends and team members can turn on you suddenly.

Currently in the game zombies do not bite players so players can't turn into zombies... To me this makes no sense. Zombies that don't have a bite attack is NOT a zombie. I know, I keep hearing that in Dayz the so called "zombies" are not the traditional Night of The Living Dead type but the 28 Days Later variety.

I like the survival aspect of the game pve and pvp. I think more focus and clarification has to be put on the zombies and the story of behind this infection to make this game great. Other wise the zombies are more like really angry locals who what you to leave their country.

No. Every survivor in DayZ is completely immune to the virus and could never become a zombie.

And as I understand it none of the zombies are actually "dead," they're just infected and insane. Think "28 Days Later" instead of "Dawn of the Dead."

This would also be why zombies can be killed with things other than a headshot. In a traditional "undead" zombie, the corpse is returned to life by additional electrical signals sent from the Reptilian brain to the brainstem and spine, with the evolved areas of the brain dying. In this case, if you shoot a zombie in the heart, whatever, it's blood is not pumping. You must interrupt the electrical signals via a headshot.

In this style of zombie anything that would cause a human being do die would cause a zombie to die. So maybe they should implement "zombie starvation" if they don't get a kill in a long enough time, later down the road when things are persistent.

This is probably the lamest zombie apocalypse ever if that is really the case. No fucking way should we be 100% immune. Maybe more resistant but we should still be able to get infected.

This is the lore as I understand it as it was implemented in the Mod. Also, I understand it to be airborne, but it doesn't effect any species but humans.

Thusly if you're not infected yet you simply won't be.

On that note, realizing this is another game, but H1Z1 will feature traditional, undead zombies and the plan is, down the line, that players once killed will rise as zombie loot bags which then may be hunted down for said loot. They even are pondering a "play as a zombie" system using heatmap visuals.

That has always been the "lore" in DayZ, the few survivors left (us players) are the only ones immune to the infection, and thats why we are still humans and not infected raging monsters.

In reality theres always a small percentage of the population, which is immune to a certain bacteria/virus, and that was the original explanation from Dean when he created the mod.

Thats also why you can kill the "zombies" in DayZ, by shooting at theyre body, destroying vital organs.

The only ones who knows if this will ever chance is Dean and BI tbh.

I hope it wont change, theres plenty of games out there with undead zombies in it.

The lore is not written in stone though. Lots of things have changed from the mod to SA. This could change as well.

Though I doubt it.

Im pretty sure they were thinking about making them head shots only.

You are right, but i seriously doubt they would want to change that now, when they have spend so much energi and time, stressing its not undead zombies.

I dont recall any official word on that, but if you can find i would love to read it :)

I know people have talked about it, and some of the mods made from DayZ mod did do it this way, but ive heard no such announcement for DayZ SA.

I surely hope they dont make regular undead zombies, we have that in 1000+ other games.

Let us have the running raging shells of humans, we see in 28 days/weeks later, it has so much more potential, as far as survival and horror goes imho.

Slow moving regular zombies arent scary at all, just look at the numerous movies, games and books about them.

But a fast infected, who wants nothing but to rip your head off, can be damn scary, and it has so much more potential in a video game.

I doubt they are gonna move away from one of the key aspects, that made this game so popular to begin with.

If it werent for the infected in the mod, we would all be playing wasteland and life missions atm :D

well its to fare back i cant find the quote with the comment in it as the comments only go back so much before not existing anymore past 8 pages. But they do want to give them more zombie like features. To be honest you really have to stop bashing the traditional zombie structure as without it this game wouldn't even exist. It would be something else entirely and i probably would careless if it was.

The funny thing is the mod infected are more zombie like than these ones currently and thats really sad.

Well if zombies just infected not dead, somehow we should be able to inject medication to them and make friendship with them so they can help us to survive until we die.

Now, personally, I don't see a reason you couldn't make it "headshot only" and "infected not zombies".

If the person is technically still alive, yet in this state, I believe it would be safe to assume that any medical knowledge we currently hold (in r/l) would not apply to these individuals.

specifically, i'm thinking about the adrenal system. Essentially, to me, infected zombies are beings of Adrenaline without any higher cognitive functionality.

So, if you hit one in the liver, the lungs, even both those places, sure that would apply some serious stopping power to a normal human, but unless it's enough to prevent the person from living or moving due to like... physics itself... the mindless adrenaline monster should continue. i.e. you chop off one's head and the head still tries to bite you until the brain physically shuts down electrical activity, which could be minutes or perhaps even hours (with their unknown physiology) after the blood has left the dis-incorporated head.

This actually does not happen in the game yet. Only by blunt force trauma can you die from said creatures.  The virus in the form of these creatures and in the airborne form do not affect the players in anyway.

I need a proper definition on what these creatures are before I can call it a zombie.  So they are not dead but crazed living people infected by stuff in the air that only attack non-crazed living people.  They don't attack each other for some reason, like we do in game.  Why do they want to beat us up?

I still dont want undead zombies in DayZ, im not bashing, in just stating my opinion :)

Strange you would say they are more zombie like, as i find the mods Z's much more infected like, then the standalone's.
