Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):

Recommended Posts

I feel the best way to explain this is with two quotes. One, from Ernest Hemingway:

"Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and like it, never really care for anything else thereafter."

And secondly, is the quote from Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, who is referencing the above quote:

"He got it right. Its the hunt, not the killing..."

What about you?

*I made this not to talk about the right or wrong, but the reasons why. Don't derail my discussion with hateful, derogatory, or off topic responses. If someone DOES post such a response, I will ignore them, and hope that everyone else interested in this discussion does as well. Remember: "Be polite, be professional, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

As long as you don't run around like a little kid being super arrogant in voice chat spouting off profanities and harassing ppl that are not the best of shots than i really don't care how you kill a guy.

I LOL at this...it is so funny when I hear a little kid run around with his clothes off (in game) shouting with profanity..."I need a gun, I need a gun". I always gibe them a pistol with 2 mags. So amusing.

I to prefer the "Hunt" opposed to gunning everything down I see, I love the challenge that an equally geared/experienced player brings to the fire fight, and while I detest the "CoD" mentality that most players share on DayZ, I do see the "Fun" in getting into engagements to test ones medal and prove that I am the better survivor.

The best thing in life is victory. And taking someone's life is the ultimate victory over them. Most of us can't or won't go around killing people IRL for various reasons so for some the next best thing is killing them in DayZ. And because it takes time and effort to gear up it is more meaningful than killing them in CoD or other games like that.

You should get a girlfriend.

Also you kill in DayZ becouse you are not punished for it in any form (like for exemple bandit skin like in DayZ mod )

I wouldn't say a bandit skin was a punishment. I actually tried to kill more in the mod so I'd always sport a bandit skin. A punishment in mod and in SA is the possibility of being killed by other players.

Also, I don't think that fear of punishment is what stops people from killing. For some it just feels wrong, like I wouldn't kill for fun IRL because it is just bad and not worth it, the value of human life is much more than I am willing to take, it would just make me miserable to know how much I took for nothing so it is not fun, it is the opposite of fun. The value of game life is much less and that I am willing to take from people for my own enjoyment at the same time giving them a chance to enjoy killing me.

Sorry, but the best thing in life is the birth of your children, and then every memory thereafter having to do with your children. A close second would be the process it takes to create said children.

This guy is obviously 15 years old.

Probably the best thing for humans in a zombie apocalypse is to stay together.
Not kill each other over a can of beans.

Not everyone wants to have children. Some people are just broken like that. And the process of making them, I have nothing against that but it is just a brief bodily pleasure. Let's not go off the topic please. And although it is irrelevant to the topic as well, I am not 15 years old. If someone does not share your values in life it does not mean they are too young to understand, maybe they're just different.

Sorry, but the best thing in life is covering yourself in dirt and laying in the back garden pretending you're a carrot.

Dad Jokes are the 2nd best.

Children are the 3rd.

But you should pick your company carefully, especially in such times as zombie apocalypse.

You're here to make kids. If you're not making kids, you're doing it wrong. As far as sex being a "brief bodily pleasure", are you serious? Okay pal, keep making love to your supposed "victories" that you claim to be the best thing life has to offer.

To whom are you going to recite your tales of victory? Your cats?

I am doing what is right for me, not going to try to make you see my point because I totally understand where that's coming from, do you think you're the first person who doesn't agree with my way of life? It is ok, I accepted that long time ago.

It is all about feeling it, not about reciting it to someone. What matters is inside. Also I hate cats.

I have a question for you, why do you kill people in DayZ?

Hunting other players is fun for about a minute. I usually need a reason to hunt or kill another player, such as he killed me or killed a clan mate. Its by far the most boring part of Dayz, especially with most of the population herpin and derpin all over not paying attention to their surroundings.

Good for you, you hunt and kill others. If that's your enjoyment from Dayz, well I'm glad you're getting you're monies worth. There are other things to do in game like exploring or god forbid you look for bugs and glitches.
