Can you hunt rabbits now?

Recommended Posts

Well I know about boars, deer and cows (though I haven't seen a cow yet).

Today out hunting from the deerstand I noticed that rabbits move differently now. They seem three-dimensional now as opposed to a two-dim sprite that sort of slid past the screen, now they actually seem to hop through the grass.

Then, just now, a zombie aggro'd into the town I am nearby. First, I thought this was going to end in a PvP confrontation and got prepared. Then I noticed the zombie was chasing something that was hopping in front of it! Definitely not a boar, too small.

So,  seeing as the zombie was apparently hunting a rabbit... can you hunt and eat rabbits, too??

I would have to say that if zeds are chasing it you can eat it (unless its another player... at least for now). the easiest way to find out is go hunt some rabbits.

Rabbit-starvation or "mal de caribou" ...

Now theres a task. I've seen 2 rabbits since I began playing this game. That would be a tough and boring hunt.

"Shhh. Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits"

I've shot a few in the SA but haven't been able to get any meat from them yet. They were the best meat source in the mod though.

By best I mean most blood regain per bit of cooked rabbit you ate, though a big fat cow gave more meat.

Since the introduction of hunting I've seen two rabbits, and they have become very fast. I tried shooting the second one with my 1911 but it was gone before I could even fire the first shot. I have seen footage from other players of a dead rabbit, so yes, you can kill rabbits, they are just very tricky to catch (as they should be).

wow I see them all over the NW and in the plains of the North center of the map. in all fairness however I don't know how many I have seen in the last week or two because I don't bother hunting so I don't pay attention. cans are just too easy at the moment.

Yeah, at first I thought they were a myth/people trolling haha.

The two I have seen were on the road. I never seem to find them in the grass or fields. Maybe I just need my eyes checked ;)

Apparently on experimental you can even use the "holy hand grenade" on the rabbits. I look forward to trying that...

Yes, you can kill and eat them, and get their pelt. I've done it, but it is quite the hard shot; took me 4 mosin rounds.

Maybe someday when they fix the double-barrel, hunting for rabbits will make some sense ;o)

There are cows in the field just east of Altar.

The game needs handbags ;o)

At least I'd find it hilarious to see a zombie lady roaming the town with her handbag still in her hand.

Can't tell if joking or serious, but I'll answer anyway. I have no idea, I've never tried it.
