So in 1 barracks at Balota I found a highcap vest, akm, 75 rd. drum and full matching Gorka Summer Camo..

You won't need to carry your gun for weeks you can stick it in your tent till you find the ammo.

 

I had occasions in the mod(s) that were similar.  Find a lapua on epoch or even an m107 in vanilla.  Stick it in your tent and take it out for special occasions.  Aside from dupers, that shit was fairly rare.  You might only have a few mags for it.

 

I think that's about the level of rarity most people are advocating.  Where when you find that .50 cal or LMG or whatever it may be, you're surprised/excited and you have to make the decision whether you actually want to risk using the thing or not.

 

I personally don't like Rocket's plan for like a handful of specific guns per hive.  Similarly the idea of helicopter parts being limited by the hive also seems really shit to me.  I don't want to server hop for items.  I think rarity regulated in that respect is a terrible idea.

It probably won't be as much of a "Hard regulation" as people think it will be. I think they will simply softcap spawns the more of "insert weapon" is in play, if that makes any sense.

I think it will mostly just make common weapons more common and rare weapons more rare, and ultimately forcing people to innawoods with bow&arrow more.

It kind of makes sense, because honestly seeing ak's spawn every server restart means that ultimately a large portion of the community will be armed with top tier shit, which is not really what you would see in a so-called apocalypse.

i would have though a unstable country like chernarus would have had a RPG in almost every home .... ya know cause whenever you see 3 or more people holding AK's there is a dude with a RPG

If anyone can give me a definition of "rare" or any mathematical or 'human value system' treatment of what "rare" means in this game, I'd like to hear it.

 

 the total amount of item which spawns on server during lifetime (until server restart) 

server runs 2years item value is 10... i guess this is rare. item could be on someone who died 8 months ago and its still lying in the forest somewhere..

the importance of items will increase and maybe the dealing with other players.. you never know what some one else got in his back.

you would know what your item might be worth, so trading will become more efficent...

maybe respawn for ruined items? 

 

the numbers i used are randomly choosed,and digit to change.

10 items are spawned in two years = 10 items in 4380 spawns

= 1 spawn (statistically) on whole server in 438 server restarts

say there are 20 players on the server (average) and 1 player finds this object when it has spawned

So a player on average only has to search through 8760 restarts before HE personally finds the object

that's 35040 hours of gametime

So we can say - statistically - if a player plays 35040 hours he should find one of these.. (this is kind of rule of thumb but it gives a working figure)

Now if you look at my discussion I claim that items will either be "obtainable" or "unobtainable" in any real sense of gameplay as experienced by a single player. That could be you, for instance. I'm saying that "rare" is not a meaningful concept to explain/define gaming experience.

 

Which would you say this is ?  35000 hours to get your hands on the object ? = 'common' or 'non-existant' ?

:D so you change every number except the 10? well change it to 100 or 1000.

also items would only spawn where people would somewho except them.. residental/commercial/industrial/militry ect.

mmhhh.. but something else... what will happen if people just steal stuff... -.-

OK - I used exactly your numbers and I supposed that a server would restart every 4 hours

No Prob - I know you give it as an example.

 

Guess I'm not cutting much ice here, right people?
