Convince me to buy dayz.

Recommended Posts

I am curious just how different the mod is from the standalone.  I would like to see some REASONS to pay 30$ to buy the standalone when you have the mod.  I think this will be a good way to attract people because right now A LOT of people see no reason whatsoever to buy the standalone when they have the mod.

So.  I am a potential customer that owns the mod and see's no reason to buy the standalone.  Give me reasons to buy the standalone (and please stay on topic and use constrictive criticism)

Focus on game play.  Try to leave price out of it unless you are using it to make a point.  Mainly give things the standalone does better then the mod or has that the mod dosen't.  Also The mod AND the standalone are alpha's.  So avoid the "You are not buying a game is a alpha" please.     remember WE ARE COMPARING THIS TO THE MOD.

$30 for the full game now instead of $60 when it's done.  Buy it and sit on it.  Or maybe you'll end up enjoying it and helping out with the bug tracker.

^Pretty much this.

As well as, when it's done it will be above and beyond what the Mod can/will be.

how do I know the full game is any good?  Why not just stick with the mod.  Nope.  SO far I am sticking with the mod.

Focus less on price focus more on game play.

Sounds like you had your mind made up before you came here and asked the question. The only real way to tell if you will enjoy the game is to play it yourself.

We can sit here and rattle of features/gameplay until we turn blue but unless you play it you're not going to really know, no matter what we say. The one real fact is $30 now is much better than $50/$60 later.

So people make reviews for fun then?  There are plenty of ways to find out if a game has what you want in it before buying it.  I am not asking for a recommendation.  Just a list of features the standalone has, that the mod doesn't.  Both are very buggy and glitchy so stay away from the alpha aspect.

Buying a game without knowing anything about it is stupid and is one of the reasons games like Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial marines existed.  Not to mention Warz. (now called infestation)

It will NEVER cost 60 dollars, stop fooling yourself. Even now it has sales. It will be cheaper in full release because there will be much less potential consumers because of new DayZ rippoffs coming out already. So the price should never be a reason to buy or not to buy the game (unless you live in Sudan).

I've seen reviews of games that said it was utter shit but played it myself and enjoyed them. If I relied on people telling me whether I should play a game or not, I would most likely be currently playing checkers. Although checkers is overrated, just quietly.

Example is Arma 3 and also stated by the Devs/BI that this would be the case. Could your crystal ball give me the next winning lotto numbers as well?

Lets end this and get back on topic please.

1.  I am not letting people tell me to buy the game or not.  Its calling SUGGESTIONS.  Advice.  Opinions.  Please do not tell me you are one of those people that would buy a game WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING about it before?  That is setting yourself up for disaster.  Of course reviews are going to say its shit.  They are also going to say its good.  The point of a review is not to tell someone to buy the game or not.  Its to give them information on the game and a persons experience with the game.  A smart person will watch a couple reviews and read some opinions on the game before making a purchase.

You need to know what you are buying before you buy it.  And since this is the dayz forums where people play dayz I assumed people here would know about the game.

2.  Quiet about the price.  Focus.  On.  Gameplay.

Its a anti-game.

there is no points or skill trees like every single game has now a days.

Its truly a great adventure.

What i absolutely love about dayz are the player interactions. no game has ever captured this.

running into someone and figuring out if you will work together or kill each other.

it is still in alpha. which means the bugs are insane and a lot of it is still in development.

Can't really convince you. As I see it, the game is now worth about $11.99. Full retail at $60.00 is absurd, if it should rise that high. Final price should range about $29.99 (make no mistake that the initial release was a grabbing of cash). Maybe higher if they have a new map (forget it), a nice box, shiny disc and a souvenir (the 'steam' model essentially shits on that deal, though you're paying them absent a box anyway).

Its gameplay wise already way better than the mod - it's "just" lacking content. It will be, and already is, way better than

the mod. The mod is clunky, laggs, and the Zs are a joke, like the engine itself. The SA already made major steps in a

better future, Chernarus+ alone is reason enough why SA is already better.

But you'll never know if the full game is any good, if your name istnt Nostradamus. So you can't let that price

out of the discussion because right now its 20 €, and later 60 € - that 40 € difference is the bargain, if you're

willing to RISK, and support a game in Early Access. If you're still arguing about gameplay, you dont understand

what Early Access means, we can't tell you if SA is/will be better than the mod, because its just a work in progress...

My personal opinion? SA is gameplay wise already better, even if i have to walk everywhere.

er.. 22000000 players, dude

yo find anyone to play with these days in the mod?

on the other hand

you really gonna have to convince yourself

it's not a game for players who want other people to do the work

really - you might not like it

in fact the more I think about it the more you maybe shouldn't buy it

Friend - invest that money in something else..

..like..

.. er.. something else

whatever

you could regret buying DayZ SA all your life !

and not to mention the fact there really is no end game.

there is no "sidechat". so its quiet and lonely

zombies are rare....

no vehicles.

basically you walk around 7/10 buildings are empty, spend 10 mins hiking to the next town to find the same. encounter one zombie and have a klusterfuck buggy boxing match with it then walk around for a hour with a black and white screen because you took damage.

so no end game.

IT will be sweet once vehicles and zombies are actually added.

its still in alpha so all these things aren't a surprise. its expected.

imo get it have a few hours of laughs and wait till it gets more developed

The core of the DayZ SA is what Rocket envisioned as a survival game with zombies, but wasn't able to achieve to its full potential due to the limitations of having to mod a military/combat simulation game.

I've played the mod practically since it came out and have seen the many changes it has undergone, some were ok others just have nothing to do with a zombie invested survival game anymore.

So what we have now is back to the roots of the zombie survival game on an engine specifically coded for just that kind of environment.

If you play the mod you will notice that all the popular servers are running mods that have tons of vehicles and high powered weapons, as that is what seems to rustle most kids jammies.

If you are into those things the DayZ mods provide then I would say, don't bother buying the SA.

If you are looking for a slower paced more survival game, then DayZ SA is specifically made for you.
